And to think that I was called a used car salesman for telling the OP to buy now when he posted the thread.
OP could have gone all-in. Instead he chose to listen to the noobs and bears.
$400/btc won't come back for most of us; there may be a flash crash for a chosen few. Self-fulfilling prophecy or not, this summer will bring a major bubble, solidly putting the rocket up to the $5000 range. It will crash down to $2500.
I def considered your opinion when I bought some coins, I feel everyone has given me great advice. Obviously I regret not going all in when it was 350-450 but I was concerned with it dropping down and then I go belly up haha. Had I known that it was gonna go close to 600 I would have bought in more but the piece of mind is also worth something. I am now up to 7 coins with 5 bought around 420-460 and then I bought 2 more yesterday when the price fell to 550 (now back up to 570-80) So if your prediction is right over 1k up to 5k I will still be making a nice chunk of change and I'm feeling pretty solid with the money I spent on my 7.14 coins. If it tanks I will still be eating. If anyone can give me a guarantee I will put 20k in bitcoin thanks for all the tips/opinions. Really helped me with my first post and with bitcoin investing in general I can give you this guarantee: you are buying at the lowest point of the year. I envy your entry position. I seriously doubt we'll see lower than this. But on downswings don't panic, keep holding. And plan on a 1-2 year hold. Because chances are that just about the time you are thinking about selling for whatever reason, it'll go parabolic. Lowest point of the year? You're selling BTC for $340?

with the jump up in price I am already around 4300 with 7.14 bitcoin, I think I'm gonna hold off on buying more and see where this goes. Hopefully I can make some decent money. Thanks again to everyone for the advice

4300/7.14 = $602.24 average price is that correct? if you bought in the 400s and 500s you should have more BTC.

ah, that sucks. i guess i've been lucky never having a problem with coinbase. assuming that Coinbase returned $906.79 to your bank account, you have only spent $3469.30 for 7.137 BTC. so your average price comes to $486!

pretty sure the fees are just 1 no matter if you buy .001 or 25 coins%??
Yea they returned the money. (was never taken) they claim my bank gave them a nsf or what ever saying it was declined but I had money in there so who knows. Maybe with all my transactions the money was short just at the right time. I haven't had any other problems though and am pretty happy with the ease of coinbase

I know prices are pretty high right now, but I'm thinking about buying 1-2 more bitcoins. Are people still buying at these prices? There are a lot of speculation posts about coins still rising in price

I think about it like this - we're still far below the previous all time high. If you're in it for the long term, this is the safe buy zone. Bitcoin has never fallen below the previous high from the last bubble ($31, $266, now ~$1150). You can feel relatively confident knowing that after the next wave of adopters the price will never drop below $1150 again.

This happened to me once before, and this is how I got them to reinstate the trade. Step 1: withdraw all your coins. Step 2: Send a very polite email to coinbase, saying you are happy with their service, and say that you noticed they cancelled one of your 8 purchases. Tell them you would like them to reinstate the purchase. Point out to them that they approved a bunch of other trades and there is no reason this one should be considered "high risk." (Note: this is why you withdraw your other coins first, in case they decide they want to reverse ALL your trades for no good reason.) Point out that of all your major trades, the one that got cancelled was at the lowest price. Although you do not think this is the case, to an outside observer, it might appear that they were selectively canceling purchases after a significant rise in price. Make sure to be polite and non confrontational even as you accuse them of doing trade cancellation in an underhanded way. It will make them more likely to respond favorably. I actually believe Coinbase when they say that sometimes trades get cancelled by mistake. I still trade with them.

I have been pretty happy with Coinbase, I have spoken with them multiple times and the said my bank gave them a NSF so technically they didn't cancel it. I was moving money around so maybe it happened just at the exact right time to not go through.
Other than that I am up to 9 coins with average cost of 518, so I feel like I'm doing pretty good. Total just under 4700 spent
I might look into ANXPRO to diversify a little when/if I decide to buy more coins

congrats.. holding 10ish coins for a few years might turn out to be a lot more than you put in. it's something like a $5,000 lottery ticket with much, much better odds.
