I'm using Bitcoin almost every day and sometimes it seems to take ages until a transaction gets confirmed. I often find myself checking blockchain.info times and times again, just to see if a new block was found.

So I thought that it would be nice to get notified with a sound whenever a new block is found. And that's exactly what blockear.com does. Just open the site and leave it running in the background. Whenever a new block is found you'll get notified with a sound. Currently, there are 5 different sounds available (I personally like the "boom" sound).

The site should be working with recent versions of all major browsers. If you have any suggestion for improvement, just let me know.

Nice idea. Definitely going on my bookmarks bar Smiley

Some additions could be:-

Customizable sounds. I'm not sure how easy or hard this would be , and would it be possible to play a sound from the user's PC without uploading it.

Block timer. If you are waiting for a specific number of confirms (3 or 6 maybe) , you could set a number such that it would either make a distinct sound after all the confirms are complete or it would sound only after all confirms are complete. This would be even better than keeping track of 6 beeps.

No longer active on bitcointalk, however, you can still reach me via PMs if needed.

Sounding only after X confirms would be awesome, as would make waiting for an specific number of confirmations easier.
Also, if you add the ability to only monitor a specific transaction (checking if it's included in the block), it'd be much more useful.

Such a good idea!  You should put this up on GitHub.

Great work here.  I usually keep blockchain.info open and check it periodically.

Love the ingenuity.

Edit: This gave me the idea of making an iOS app to vibrate when a block is found given the app is running.  I'd do it if you'd be O.K. with that.

JDBs still actually work?

Surprising that people actually allow Java to run in the browser from untrusted websites.
