Despite the shrill shills, no poll I have seen can claim anything with regard to 'x% of the forum'. Has any of these polls garnered votes from more than 1% of the forum?

Not yet.

But it still can happen. Over time. Smiley

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

NO

Can we please just leave it alone?

That will be the best thing to do as of now. If a consensus can't be reached in the near future (I see no chances), then the status quo must be maintained. So the best solution is to leave it as it is now.

Seems like a good idea, mBit rolls off the tongue a lot easier than mBTC

uBitcoin is cents now. For me is the same as bitcoin in the 100's but with inverted signal(eg, makes the coin seems worthless for being so cheap). Better leave the change for when btc in fact skyrockets.

And mBit and uBit might cause confusion with the quantum computation's qBits, so not sure if it would be a good idea put them as official names.

This thread is pointless.
Bitcoin is open source, If you want those changes make a soft fork yourself.
The changes you desire wouldn't take long.

This is a totally trivial recompile that can be done right now if you want it, since the client already supports all three units mentioned. All this would be is changing the user interface text.
This thread is pointless.

Of course, this can be done individually! In fact, many people already did that.
But that's not the point of this thread.

The question is: What should be the official version, i.e. the version that the upstream developers will distribute?
I don't think it is pointless.

It is pointless.
You propose that bitcoin's official developers drop the name btc and make unneeded changes to how a persons bitcoins display.
It will never happen, Bitcoin is btc, no reason to change. It would only serve to confuse people.

The answer is: whatever they choose, regardless of what this needless thrashing thinks it concludes.

Anyone with a campaign ad in their signature -- for an organization with which they are not otherwise affiliated -- is automatically deducted credibility points.
