Well I just wanted to put this out here:
Many of you don't have the time or resources to spend all your time helping to make bitcoin grow, however there are some very small things you can do to make bitcoin grow which takes minimal time and effort.
Firstly I will thank everyone for putting in their time and resources to make bitcoin what it is, and to make it grow, you are all awesome.
To contribute, here are some small things that you could do that don't take a lot of time or energy:
1. Contribute to the
bitcoin wiki, if you see anything you think should be changed, be it a link that does not work any more, or some wrong spelling - correct it.
2. If you can't code, see if there's anything you could
translate to your native language.
3. Run a bitcoin node. (for a tech person this actually don't take much time or effort - for a non tech person it could still
be doable4. Participate on forums, like bitcointalk,
bitcoin.stackexchange.com,
r/bitcoin and others, and be courteous, polite and helpful to newbees.
5. Send e-mail to any company where you buy stuff or services and ask them if they would consider accepting bitcoins, don't do it unless you're actually going to put your bitcoins where your mouth is.
6. Accept bitcoin as a payment method when selling used stuff online.
7. When you need an online service (VPN, hosting), choose a provider that accepts bitcoins.
8. Donate bitcoins to a charity or open source project that you want to see succeed.
9. Contribute a
review of a bitcoin service. And for those who're socially minded:
1. Participate in local bitcoin meetup.
2. Help a friend get started with bitcoin.
These were some suggestions from the top of my head, and some of the things that you could do does not require a lot of time or effort but are rather trivial, and would still contribute to the overall growth of bitcoin.
At least, doing anything of these things, or something else entirely that you can think of, will leave you with a feeling and a satisfaction that you actually contributed.
If you would like to state what you've contributed with and get a pat on the back from your fellow bitcoiners, feel free to post in this thread, but I think the bulk of bitcoin growth is happening by people who just do stuff without expecting anything in return, I think they just realize the usefulness of what they're doing and it brings them a certain level of internal satisfaction.
While the grassroots and early adopter feeling might've vanished a bit, it's all up to us what we chose to do, what we chose to contribute with and how we want to spend our time. I'd say there's nothing wrong with wasting time now and then and having some fun online not contributing productively, but if you do contribute productively from time to time you're actually making bitcoin better and helping it grow.
Again, I would like to thank an amazing community for their great efforts and all the devs and other contributors that tirelessly works to make bitcoin what it is. Many of the contributors don't get that much attention or thanks, but they're all providing their time and resources to make bitcoin possible.
For those who contribute substantially, keep it up, I salute you! And for those who never contribute: You might consider contributing just a little bit here and there to make bitcoin better.
Most of us only put forth an effort when we directly can benefit from it, but if you think of bitcoin on a larger scale, you will realize that to help others get into bitcoin, and to help bitcoin become better, is also helping yourself, because if you're involved in bitcoin you most likely want it to succeed, and that does not happen without effort and work.
Thank you everyone, and have a great bitcoin day!
