Depends on what you consider average. Lets say you have 5MHash/s (an older processor or graphic card), then you get about 0.03 Bitcoins per whole week of mining. Having something more decent, like 100MHash/s (a newer graphic card), you get 0.08 Bitcoins per day of mining. If you own a specialized rig with many graphic cards, let say, 2GHash/s, that gives 1.6 Bitcoins per day.

Generally, look here:

and input the speed of your hardware from here:

My Graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 5700), if I recall correctly, gave me 200 MHashes and only got me 0.5 bitcoin in more than a week.
You can't get rich with mining (if you pay for electricity). If you mine, do it for fun or for the community.

If you want to make money with bitcoin, you have to buy and sell bitcoins and speculate a bit.
Note that you can loose lots money with, but if you take the risks you can gain some bucks..

Yeah its true, you wont make much money mining unless you have a lot of money up front. I stopped mining until i was able to put a large sum up for 6 or 7 mining rigs.

Awesome news! At current speed, in a year that'll bring you just below 0.4 BTC!
You're going to be stinking rich in only ...uhhh.... an eternity or so.

Begging everyone you know to do some mining for you? Why do you even bother posting such nonsense?

 Huh

Your local averages don't mean much. The actual number of bitcoins an arbitrary fixed configuration will produce will vary anyway with the global level of difficulty set. The more mining that takes place globally the higher the difficulty. The only average is that a new block ( currently 50 BTC, it will be reduced to 25 in the near future ) is mined every 10 minutes or so and this is controlled by the difficulty. So, the more miners, the less of a cut each miner gets, the total output of all miners is the same. Maybe no one should mine, then the difficulty would be quite low  Smiley
