I concur.  I voted Monero as soon as the poll went up.

They're trying to buy all the coins.
We must not let them.

BitMonero is an absolutely awful name.  This may be intended as an attack on the coin.

Taking over the control to instamine is the attack on original BitMonero.

Because it is an attack Wink Not one regular person has come forward and said they voted BMR. We had asked TFT to reconsider the name even before he was launching. We still mined after he launched it as BMR.

I remember tacotime giving up on an immediate fork because he himself thought and indicated how multiple forks only harm each other and even then sadly it went down to this.

I would have been ok with BMR but then TFT unfolded his flop card which was to merge mine with Bytecoin and I knew where he is coming from, where others like OP/Rias/Bytecoin miners are coming from and even some of the other mysterious ways the CN team is handling MRO. It tells us that MRO is on the right track.

This is kind of silly... anyone can make a bunch of profiles on here and vote it one way or the other.

If TFT wants to continue bitmonero as a separate fork he can easily do so by introducing some hardfork change into his repo.  monero-project repo will continue on its own. So far I have only introduced softforking changes, and both our clients are compatible with the network, though his is out of date.

Anyone can make the second announcement of the fresh coin.
Anyone can make optimized miner and pretend to be saints.

This is silly.

rias

i thought that it was made clear the miner change was pretty simple. I am not a coder by any means but consensus came across ahhhhh. it was a simple coding change.

there is nothing wrong with alt coins. Rias, why dont you lead the masses and show us how it is done. I have made it clear, I am a sheep. I will follow the most fair and promising tech.

I think most people are sheep and will follow as well. The unfair thing that happend with bitmonero is
1. TFT proposed a vote for name but this voting never materialized. options were never given
--> he chose the name.
2. TFT did not take into consideration the 60 second confirmation time. it was pointed out the possible flaw but he did not awknowlege it.
--he changed it to 1 minute. making it easier to get orphan blocks.
3. OP was not updated regularly. making it very hard for new comers to participate.
--he did not respond and kept mining the coin himself. what he was most content with was getting a fork of bcn. he saw the pontential. given the current HR, he was right. but he jumped first. others volunteered to help. I do not know to what extent he included those people.

I do not think it was instamined. it is difficult now, and I feel you feel left out. I understand that. I tried for 5 days to participate with mro but couldnt. it was directly due to TFT structure.

What is the fair way?

I'm not sure. I was never in favour of renaming the client itself from bitmonero. I wanted the daemon and protocol to be referred to as Bitmonero while naming the project name and coin itself Monero. Hence in the repo it's being maintained as "bitmonero".

Bitmonero is a good name for a client or protocol, monero is a good name for a currency.

Since people like both names, is this not a reasonable compromise?

IMO that BitMonero is better just because we used to this name. And, personally , I like ''bit'' in the name

Firstly I liked both names but agressive Monero fans made my sympathy for it go down

Monero was voted by community. Lamenting after the fact is silly.

There are now few bcn clones.  Why not direct attention to those and offer support. I remember at the very beginning people called the coin a shitcoin. Scam coin and pump and dump. It seemed people formed their opinion without reading the thread. Please go over the original thread and educate yourself. Now it seems those individuals that made a rash decision see their mistake. To what end is unknown to me. Read the posts from bcn, bitmonero, monero, honeypenny.  LEARN about the coin and offer your support to the coin you think is worth you attention.

Everyone did not get used it. the renaming made it a community coin and not a tft coin.
And that is a good thing.
