Cloud mining is good if electricity is too expensive in your area.

You're too late for hobby mining. It's OK, me too. Smiley

There are plenty of coins that may be mined 'without rigs or good equipment,' gambling that they may increase in price or pumped and dumped, but if you want to consistently, profitably mine, then I have some bad news for you. Those days are long gone. Cloud mining may be an option if you're willing to pay.

For coins on exchanges, Ducats is actually relatively profitable, although it's only on allcrypt, has very low volume, and is a pretty much a zombie coin. (Also, make sure you set a transaction fee under Preferences to prevent problems).

GroestlCoin, YaCoin, and UltraCoin have more volume, but aren't quite as easy to mine. It should be noted that YaCoin dev is very responsive and knows what he's doing.

For coins that are simply easy to mine but are not on exchanges, Fairbrix and ZurCoin can be mined with any computer, but they have no value.

You buy some NXT using fiat: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=587007.msg6619830#msg6619830

Each NXT represents a virtual mining rig. Smiley Virtual in that sense that you do not need to waste electricity.
