I have to say I'm impressed by the vitriol expressed by some people on the other thread. I suppose many were simply mad because I wouldn't allow trolling and biggotry here and deleted some of their posts. It was funny to learn of the existence of an organized "gay mafia" with an agenda to conquer the world, though.
When I started this thread, I couldn't really imagine that people would make such a fuss about it. It's about a group of people who criticized Nintendo for making a "life-simulation" game which ignores the real world reality of same-sex relationships, and I find their criticism fair enough. There was no need to turn the whole thing into a series of deliberate attacks against gays for whatever personal reasons those attackers had - and I'm sure many of them have a lot of intimate issues they're not willing to deal with (while others are just plain stupid and ignorant). People who are 100% OK with own their sexuality don't really give a damn about gays - there's no disputing this.
No one here is trying to "force homosexuality" onto anyone. Sexuality is just one of many aspects of each person's multifaceted nature, and it's absolutely not "black or white", but rather a very wide range of shades of grey. "Non-hetero" sexual and affective behaviors are nothing new and were even admired in some ancient civilizations. Then came along the plague of self-righteous, dogmatic "religions" that decided they were entitled to speak in the name of a "god", or Jesus, or whomever, and throughout history very large groups of people were actually massacred for not complying with some religious faith.
By the way, since I'm pretty sure many on the other thread consider themselves "christians" and/or profess a dogmatic religion, please allow me to tell you one thing about the man they call Jesus. I am an atheist, but for historical reasons I do believe there once was a man called Jesus. Not the son of some "god", but nevertheless a man whose actions and words annoyed and disturbed the
status quo, and he was murdered for that. And you know what kind of people slaughtered him? The same kind who is spitting venom left and right on the other thread. If Jesus (or someone like him) were in some way to return today, he would be killed again by those very people, have no doubt about it.
It's sad to see that, in spite of all our technological advances (including our beloved cryptocurrencies), so many people remain in the dark ages when it comes to dealing with things that don't fit in the little boxes they have inside their heads.
