I can certainly see why TradeHill would want their users to spam their name all over the net, but isn't it sort of ridiculous for a currency trading service to resort to such... farmvillesque tactics?
It's also sort of annoying for people who just signed up. If someone creates an account without using a referral link they will basically be at a disadvantage in all their future use of the TradeHill service unless they scrap their account, grab a referral code off the signature of some random forumgoer and create another account.

Am I missing something here?

If not, I need a TradeHill referral code. I will use the one provided by the person who tells me the least funny joke within the next hour. At least that way somebody had to work for it instead of just getting paid to spam.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

It's more a relic of a failed marketing strategy. They pissed everyone off with the promotion, but didn't strike it from the books. When I opened a tradehill account, I just tracked down someone whom I liked (can't remember who...either a mod or a developer) and used theirs.

Now seriously, I am thinking about putting together a bounty thread to change your avatar.  How much would it cost for something less vile?

Tis ok, I already submitted my entry earlier.

Or can we make multiples?

In that case...

There was a moron standing on the side of the road.  He picked his nose, and the buger ate him.

Well, it was a close race, but I think this one came out ahead. It wasn't even bad enough to be funny.

Lol, thanks.  Hopefully you'll add enough pennies to my account so I can actually buy $1 worth of BTC, since that's the minimum trade.  Wink
