Francis made the appeal during a speech to U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the heads of major U.N. agencies who met in Rome this week.
Latin America's first pope has frequently lashed out at the injustices of capitalism and the global economic system. On Friday, Francis called for the United Nations to promote a "worldwide ethical mobilization" of solidarity with the poor. Clearly, the leader of the Catholic Church is a marxist and doesn't understand how to raise people out of poverty. I feel less and less Catholic each time this guy opens his pie hole.

Some? They should actually read the bible and give away it all since they apparently are a religion formed on the teachings of Christ. |

Don't need the Vatican for that. There ARE people actually living without money willingly. They directly trade their skills and laboring power for food, clothes and living room. One of the better known people doing it in Germany is Raphael Fellmer. |

How ironic. The Catholic church is one of the wealthiest institutions in the world, owning large swathes of real estate and plantations. And where I live, in my city alone they own millions of $$$ worth of prime real estate. First they should set the example by distributing some of that land to the homeless poor. Talk about redistribution after that, and I'll listen.

That is true. The Catholic church resembles a Multinational business company, rather than a religious organization. I am slightly positive about the new Pope. I hope that he will help the poor. |
