http://bitcoinmagazine.com/12866/bitcoin-at-vancouver-car-free-day/

Basically, we set up a block at Car Free Day, one of Vancouver's biggest festivals with over 250,000 people expected to attend. We're showing off ATMs, miners, and more! One of our directors got the block for only $2,500 by promising to do it in a non-profit fashion--we will divide the cost evenly/fairly among participants.

Whoever mines the block which ends up containing your transaction will get its fee.

Try to make it seem fun. Bitcoin has a reputation for being too dry.

We'll let all manner of cryptopeople be exhibitors/sponsors, but we'll try to keep it exciting. We've done similar things on a smaller scale, before.

The Bitcoin Co-op will use Car Free Day Vancouver to spread knowledge of crypto-based currencies throughout the community.

I wonder in what form "spreading of knowledge" will take place?  There will be an expo or something else?

We have handouts and flyers and things like that, but direct and hands-on engagement is more important with your everyday person. Guests are coming through the block on a route, so it has to catch their attention. Bitcoin ATMs of different kinds along with mining equipment should get some attention, and we have enthusiastic people to talk about how everything works. People from various companies or organizations can rep themselves in the process.

I think your idea is very good! The information is the main weapon in the world today so you need to spread your knowledge of Bitcoin, IMO

Will let you all know how it goes! For now, it's just a lot of work and planning. We could use sponsors/donors in addition to the exhibitors we're bringing, if anybody wants to help. Excess funds will be used to promote crypto adoption--so far, we pay for all the tablets we give merchants out of pocket, and haven't had the resources to get ads for Bitcoin, physically or online.
