My apologies, I just realized this account is newer than I thought... No bother, just Google my username and you'll find out everything you need to know. Smiley

Why would I want to put up alt coins as collateral if I could just sell them?

I could post on this forum for years and build up all sorts of rep, but I still wouldn't be able to say anyone here really knows me. That's the nature of the internet. That's why I offered proof of identity. You don't walk into a loan office and tell them they should give you a loan because you're well known around town. You give them proof of income and make them understand your ability and intention to repay the loan, usually through a legally binding contract but that's another story.

For only 0.05 BTC, I wouldn't waste money paying to ship something to an escrow service. I have a Steam account worth about $1,000 but I noticed that most people don't take Steam accounts (or any other accounts) as collateral, and that's worth too much anyway. So, all you can do is take my ID and proof of mining hardware, and believe that I just want to pay for hosting. I just wish there were a way to demonstrate my intention to repay the loan. There is simply no other option in my mind.

Well, welcome to Bitcointalk. Things here work exactly the opposite of what you are saying. We don't care about your ID. All we care about is collateral and trust.

heh then in that case, I've been playing at this all wrong. I should make dozens of constructive posts on a forum so someone will let me give them 120% of a $27 loan. Right, and i just saw a pig fly by. I guess I'll just save up for a month instead, it's cheaper and easier.

Well giving up after only a few people responded on the first day doesn't do much for lender confidence.  Patience eh.

I don't think I should get such a loan anyway. I would have to save every satoshi mined for a month to pay it back, I would rather just be able to use the BTC as I get it.

Why should we lend you then?  Thankfully you've noticed that your account is new, but I'll tell you right now trading on bitcointalk requires fairness on both sides.. BTW, why you make your identity so public >.>

What is so wrong with having a facebook page with some photos anyways? Life is too short to simply hide behind a forum nickname all your time what you think? Are you a bounty hunter or what? Grin

Some times it's good to stay off the grid.
People could give you hell with just a name, now. And some people surely aren't bounty hunters. I would prefer them over being on the grid.
