 hi all im new to this and im having a few problems im using gui miner on my pc to mine in a pool, ive set it all up registerd a miner but whenever i try to minei just get "connection problem"  or "theres nothing to mine"...what am i doing wrong?,can some one help please

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

I would avoid using guiminer till you understand a few things.

Most pools give you the basic command line to start cgminer and the like.

Bitminter is another pool, and its pretty newbie friendly.

Most pools are easy to use, and you only need to figure out how to use cgminer or bfgminer. Smiley

if you're just mining with your computer CPU then download CPUminer and i think theres a youtube video out there explains how to use it
