If anyone here is from the bitcoin-OTC IRC channel, you've probably heard me a million times, but here's my story:
Just thought I'd say, paypal are assholes, I got into a dispute for what I thought at first was a chargeback from someone I sold BTC to, but nope, infact after the disputes were over, I saw that they were labeled as "MIP Investigation" meaning Multi-Item Purchase. Sure I can understand them locking my account over a few more transactions than normal... BUT the worst part is, it took 14 days to get any sort-of reply from PayPal after they put me into 10 different disputes with Steam, and people who I'd received or sent money to (INCLUDING GIFTS/PAYMENTS OWED).
After they solved the disputes... they decided that even though the transactions were all good, nothing suspicious... they wanted to reverse them anyway.
So, at the moment I've been limited for over a month, I've got my steam account suspended (that's $300 of games down the drain), and since the payments to steam have now been reversed, I'm expecting my account to get fully removed soon.

Take a look at these screenshots if you want and you'll see the hell I've been through:
Steam suspension: http://i51.tinypic.com/30lorhd.png
Steam gift reversal: https://i.imgur.com/1pEAQ.png
A nice list of my disputes: http://i51.tinypic.com/9i4tbp.png
-$40 balance... http://i55.tinypic.com/2q8wkr4.png
And then a crapload of full reversals, but still limited...: http://i54.tinypic.com/2jakfvb.png

And THIS bullshit is why I like bitcoin... your account can't be frozen for no apparant reason and then having all your transactions reversed...

i had my cc cloned last month so my paypal stopped working.
At that point i relised pp is a carte blanche link either to a card or a bank; you can't prepay to protect you funds. So it's debt based and not protecting your details.

I'm looking at virtual creditcards to reduce the problem.

What can we all learn from this? Don't use PayPal.

Use Moneybookers, OKPAY, AlertPay and so on instead.

This aint a lesson learning thread in general, its more on dismay and bad experiences on paypal. So that others will learn to be careful next time.  Smiley

You must contact merchants that use PayPal shopping cards and tell them that you will never use PayPal because it is pure evil (likely the merchant has already experienced their accounts being locked multiple times randomly), but you will send them 10BTC worth $60 right now for their product, and it is safe, has no fees, and cannot be disputed once it is confirmed.
I have a product I wanted to buy, only one company is the US distributor, and as they are mainly on eBay, so even on their web site they ONLY take PayPal - perfect candidate for a "we can do business if you take Bitcoin" campaign.

I could see that working if we all did it instead of first going through paypal and such

Moneybookers can be just as bad, if not worse some times.

I highly advise against using paypal, or if you do use it, do not keep more than 500$ in it ! They can steal your money if they really want and you won't be able to do anything.
