also, i am thinking bout buying a new gfx card

i need to get a psu and card

i was thinking bout 6870 or 6850

but im not sure

my budget is 250 with shipping

it will not be a dedicated mining rig, i will be using it for gaming, bluray and mining

any feedback (and places to get good quality gear .cheap) will help thanks

**also** anyone know a TRUSTED place that accepts bitcoins for computer hardware  or that will exchange my bitcoins for places like newegg or tigerdirect

My account was hacked , i have recovered it but the person promoted straight disgusting trash lust ico.. i do not and would never support that

Do yourself the favor and grab a 6870. It's just more efficient at mining.
If you're going to start mining, at least let's make it a commendable start.

In fact, an old 5850 would be a bit faster than a 6870 but it's increasingly hard to get those in good shape and with manufacturer's warranty.

thanks for super fast reply...

i found this http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=HD5850-PCIE-1024-PB

but thats suspect 134$ the card looks geenric.

another question is..
will thr 5850 play newer games and bluerays just as good as the 6870?

i know the 5850 is kinda old now

The exact difference in mining speed between a stock 5850 and a stock 6870 is 3,5%.

I know it's old. Still, the 5850 is hard to beat as far as mining is concerned. Games will likely prefer a more recent card though.
Not worth going with that specific card 5850 you linked to IMO, it's bound to be loud as heck under full load.

If I were to choose, I'd go with this.
Three massive fans will keep this card cool and quiet even with some crazy overclocking. The superior cooling system does come at a premium though.

24/7 mining generates a lot of heat, more than typical gaming will generate.

I've been using an XFX 6870 since August.  It's worked great...  the only issue I've had is the fan is a rather loud during mining as I increase the fan speed to 75% or so to keep the temperature around 70 C.

I have these same generic cards which I purchased a few weeks ago.  They perform well, (pulling 340 each), and came with a 90 day warranty.  I'm actually looking for some more everyday, as they sell out pretty quick.
