Paypal operates based on the TOS and rules of the credit card companies. There is no way in Hell that the CC cos will integrate Bitcoin into their systems. Paypal might offer its own Bitcoin transaction system but it will in no way be tied to or using credit cards.

I agree. I have no idea how there would be any kind of seller protection if Bitcoin were integrated. I wouldn't take Bitcoin for an ebay transaction on a bet!

It would be cool if they did. I would actually consider using Ebay again.

This is a great article. I suppose bitcoin could be sent to ebay which holds it and then forwards it when shipment is confirmed... or something similar. Ebay provides value as a go between for consumers and sellers, not as a money transfer service. Paypal is the money transfer service, but if they could integrate bitcoin on the back end, they could stand to save themselves a lot of money. This allows them to either profit more or be in a better position to compete with others who offer similar services.

The one question I have for both of them is how do they lower exposure to volatility while still providing go between (money holding) services or using bitcoin on the backend of their payments system.

The only way I see this happening is if they and a number of other companies bought in heavy enough to bring relative stability to price.

I read the whole article. There is no concrete evidence to suggest that Paypal will integrate Bitcoin anytime in the near future. They are just quoting some half-heated comments from John Donahoe.

As the article observes, eBay is looking for a way to impose fees when there should be none Same meds, different label

Integration of Bitcoin or any other crypto into ebay will not happen.

Nope, I guarantee integration will never happen unless ebay/paypal can get a cut. Ebay is making at least 13% on fees for every auction, why would they throw that away by accepting btc?

Agreed, which is why I now do Craigslist only. Stuff might not sell as fast but it does sell and no "Feedback" issues!

Neither paypal nor banks like Bitcoin. In order for ebay to integrate bitcoins, they have to convince bank and paypal first. It's fruitless to attempt to convince paypal since it is a payment system. Bitcoin is irreversible so its impossible to have a ebay seller protection.

If Paypal accepts Bitcoin, then it will be just a matter of time before Ebay does the same. That said, I'm still not convinced about the news that Paypal is actively considering Bitcoin integration.
