Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Almost two dozen Bitcoin ATMs are operating in Canada, and so far there has been no harassment from the government.  Almost every single Canadian provinces is having at least one Bitcoin ATM. From what I could understand from the article, it seems that the Bank of Canada officials are very much indifferent to the Bitcoins.
