^AMD cards die within a year of constant mining sometimes longer and they are better engineered than these ants (although the ants are pretty solid)... I know people are paying 90% new price for 6 month old hardware... That doesn't make it smart though.

I would disagree after using both. Ants are engineered so much more conservatively. First of all, most all of my AMD cards other then XFX survived many years with at most a fan replacement. Overclocking kills cards more then anything else, and that is easier to do on a video card than on an ant because you cant mod voltage without changing the hardware itself.
Unmodified ants run cooler overall even overclocked. They hit an overclock threshold where they generate more errors then additional speed (unlike video cards) so really almost nobody will hit them harder then 200GH mostly because it is TOTALLY POINTLESS.
Ants kill power supplies more than owners kill ants.
Sure, put one in a baking room and give it super shitty power and it will fail, but so far that is not the norm.
