He ships from Hawaii... so not cheap for him I would assume.

Smoothie,
First of all, I'm glad to see you are back, and with a new coin no less.  Do you plan to have a mainland U.S. based reseller so those in the continental U.S. can save on shipping?  I'm sure those overseas would like a reseller over there.

If not, does anyone want to organize a group buy?  I'd prefer to avoid the high shipping costs to get a few coins.  Since these are unfunded, they probably don't need to be sent registered / overnight mail....at least the brass ones shouldn't.

I currently do not any reseller at this time for BUYER FUNDED coins. Previously to my shutting down coin sales I've had multiple individuals buy coins in bulk and then resell them on ebay etc.  Of course I am open to the idea if all the details work for both parties involved. PM /email (smoothie@lealana.com) me if you are interested in being a reseller of my coins in the EU or 48 contiguous states.

Feel free to create a group buy.

Each coin from now on will be marked with an epilog laser "BUYER FUNDED" on the hologram.
I understand that.  To me, the coin loses some of its magic with a "BUYER FUNDED" marking that really means "This my be empty - go check before accepting".  I was hoping you'd consider selling coins that didn't require a  "BUYER FUNDED" label because you certified it before it was shipped.

All of my previous coins and all other physical coins would require you to check the balance despite being funded.
I understand that physical attacks are possible (Actually, I was across the hallway in another talk when the Casascius coin was opened with minimal damage at DefCon.), but I'd be comfortable buying small denomination coins based on physical verification.  Besides, a sneaky seller that peeked at the key would probably spend it after you verified the balance, anyways.

Don't get me wrong.  I think it is great that you're bringing these back!  I'm keeping my current ones for the long haul!

I see the value of Bitcoin, so I don't worry about the price...

If I were to fund coins I would be targeted as "money transmitting", which I do not want to be accused of from the financial regulators, hence my approach.

I could have buyers fund their own coins prior to my shipping to them but that opens up the possibility of a coin getting lost in transit that was funded. Not to mention international customers being subject to paying high taxes for funded coins when going through customs. If the buyer is willing to take on the risk of that happening I may consider not marking the coins and just checking that the coins were funded before I ship them.

I'm going to be scanning all of my coins and much like Mike I will be digitally signing the pdfs for the coins should a buyer request the pdfs to see how they looked when they were sold (as tampering generally will leave some movement of the hologram etc.)

Lasering the edges of the security holograms adds some physical security to the attacks that exist. Mike used a similar approach and had the attackers attempt to crack it and supposedly (don't take my word for it) they were not successful cracking the lasered coin(s). The edges turn very brittle at that point and any small tampering will likely show. Of course nothing is hack-proof.

BTW thanks for the kind words. It is nice to be back producing coins once again!  Grin

I might be interested in a few if a reputable EU user runs a GB

You seem quite trustworthy... Why don't you sort one? Wink

That's very kind of you Smiley

I'll see if anyone else steps forward to make a GB first, if not I might be able to arrange a small one

Hey smoothie !

Glad you are back in business ! Smiley

Do you have a set maximum quantity that will be produced for each coins ?

I'm interested in buying 20 brass coins but if the volume is too high, it might be a deal breaker in my case...

Minted both 10,000 each of the LTC and BTC brass coins.

I would guess that the amount sold and in circulation wouldn't go above 7500 or so of each.

I won't be minting 2013 brass coins anymore. The holograms I got for these will only be used on these coins. If I make another brass batch they will have differing holograms to decipher the coins.

Yes on eBay. If you sell a bunch as non classified eBay prevents you from posting anything that has "bitcoin" etc in its description.

smoothie,

If someone wins a roll of your auctioned 0.1 BTC brass, will you allow them to have their roll shipped with our group buy order at no additional cost, if they prefer?

Provided the winner of the auction pre-funds their roll as per your auction guidelines?

For prefunded coins I would rather ship directly to the winner/buyer. I'm very wary when it comes to shipping already funded coins to a 3rd party. Thanks for asking as I had not considered this until now. And now that I've thought about it, it makes sense that any prefunded coins cannot be part of a group buy even if the group buy organizer claims they are purchasing the coins.

Ultimately pre-funded coins will be required to be a completely separate order.
