Sadly...Yes to this poll, is how I voted.
Mr. Pierce with his background, no matter what the truth about many things may or may not be isn't a good choice to be on the board of the Bitcoin Foundation. There is far too much controversy and what not.
Further more Mr. Pierce didn't display sound judgement when he applied or agreed to run for a position on the board knowing he would be put directly in the spotlight and that sooner or later even his distant background would very likely be uncovered, good, bad, or indifferent.
Lastly, I seriously doubt he would have won a position on the board had voters known what is now known about alleged issues concerning Mr. Pierce's background.
Plus:
I have no beef with Mr. Peirce, much like anyone else that doesn't know him. I also sincerely sympathize concerning his background issues if in fact much or all of the more glaring issues surrounding Mr. Peirce's background are simply erroneous (not factual). Far too often innocent people (quite possibly Mr. Pierce too) get victimized horribly by others slander and defamation in examples like this. This is why I stated "sadly...Yes to this poll" above.
None of this brings any joy to any of us, and I cringe to think he could well be innocent of much or even all controversy concerning his background. As I stated, sometimes innocent people get crucified by others and that sometimes causes quite difficult issues later in life concerning certain matters. (ex: such as being put into the public spotlight).
I myself have known personally of someone that was victimized in just this sort of way and it turned out in the end he was completely innocent. This is just a very sad fact of life that is sometimes brought to bare on good people, by other people behaving horribly, for whatever reasons. I wont dare pass judgement since the facts are not clear.
I have nothing more to say on this topic.
