h/t LRC: http://www.lewrockwell.com/2014/05/no_author/90-of-war-deaths-are-civilians/90% of All Deaths In War Are CIVILIANShttp://www.washingtonsblog.com/2014/05/90-deaths-war-civilians.htmlWashington's Blog (16 May 2014)
And the U.S. Launched 201 Out of the 248 Armed Conflicts Since the End of WWII
The June 2014 issue of the American Journal of Public Health notes (free PDF here; hat tip David Swanson): Around 90% of all deaths in war are civilians:
“The proportion of civilian deaths and the methods for classifying deaths as civilian are debated, but civilian war deaths constitute 85% to 90% of casualties caused by war, with about 10 civilians dying for every combatant killed in battle.”
Swanson notes: “A top defense of war is that it must be used to prevent something worse, called genocide. Not only does militarism generate genocide rather than preventing it, but the distinction between war and genocide is a very fine one at best.”
The U.S. launched 201 out of the 248 armed conflicts since the end of WWII:
“Since the end of World War II, there have been 248 armed conflicts in 153 locations around the world. The United States launched 201 overseas military operations between the end of World War II and 2001, and since then, others, including Afghanistan and Iraq ….”
U.S. military spending dwarfs all other countries:
“The United States is responsible for 41% of the world’s total military spending. The next largest in spending are China, accounting for 8.2%; Russia, 4.1%; and the United Kingdom and France, both 3.6%. . . . If all military . . . costs are included, annual [US] spending amounts to $1 trillion . . . . According to the DOD fiscal year 2012 base structure report, ‘The DOD manages global property of more than 555,000 facilities at more than 5,000 sites, covering more than 28 million acres.’ The United States maintains 700 to 1000 military bases or sites in more than 100 countries. . . .” Visual aid This may not be an accident ….
The Project On Military Procurement notes:
To support its world-wide empire at the turn of the 19th century, Great Britain adopted the “two power standard,” which called for the Royal Navy to be equal to the combined strength of the next two largest navies in the world. The United States has more than doubled that standard as regards budgets, and yet our politicians and senior defense officials complain such outspending is inadequate.
In other words, America has apparently adopted an “total power standard” … spending more on military than most of the rest of the world combined: The United States spent more on its military than the next 13 nations combined in 2011.

War is profitable, otherwise no country would start wars. This profit can come in form of debt (IMF has organised this in Ukraine now), resources, ground etc. The death and slavery of others is a business of governments. None of the governments care about you, like Stalin said "One death is a tragedy, a million death is a statistic". In other words, America has apparently adopted an “total power standard” More money does not always imply win a war. They lost wars in Cuba, Vietnam, North Korea.

The US military complex employs a lot of people and war can be very "profitable" for the victorious party. So the US have good reason to stay in the intervention business.
In addition they have to protect the dominance of the USD as world trade currency which is crucial for their survival.

It doesn't surprise me that 80% of armed conflicts were launched by the US... Unfortunately, we're the world police even though we have our own issues to work on. Posted from Bitcointa.lk - #FTizV4ojOEwX1Yot

Here is the list, of the American interventions since WW2:
In addition, there's the arms deliveries going on both behind the scenes and in your face. It's stuff like this that allows the McCains of the world to get their rocks off. --- Kerry Announces Increased Weapons Shipments to Syria Rebels Won't Discuss 'Specific Weapons' But Vows Increased Effort After talks today in London, Secretary of State John Kerry announced an increase in “all aspects” of aid to the Syrian rebels, including weapons shipments, though he declined to discuss specifics on what weapons this would involve.
Syria’s rebels have recently enjoyed an influx of US anti-tank (TOW) missiles, though they have also sought anti-aircraft weapons, which the US has so far not provided them. The rebels have openly threatened to use anti-aircraft missiles against civilian airliners in Syrian airspace, explaining the US reticence.
Kerry assured that the weapons are only going to “carefully vetted” rebel factions, though since all weapons in the past seem to quickly end up distributed across the rebel spectrum, it isn’t clear how the US hopes to keep that happening this time. More at http://news.antiwar.com/2014/05/16/kerry-announces-increased-weapons-shipments-to-syria-rebels/Carefully vetted my ass. Reminds me of when McCain was having a kodak moment w/ those Syrians "rebel" kidnappers last year which made him look like a numnut. Totally drove home Rand's point of not working for al qaeda nor being their air force after having been allegedly fighting Islamo terrorism for the last decade or so.

The world would be in some serious shit if China had the capabilities the US has. While most of the world doesn't like the US butting into other countries problems can you imagine the scenario if the US said fuck it let them deal with it themselves. China would be Invading every square inch of the planet if they had even half of what the US has.
China would probably do the same things that the US is doing now

and a complete lack of respect for human rights with their own people...
LOL, are you living in the wonderland? Where you have seen any respect for human rights in the USA? In Guantanamo or NSA, I suppose? It's time to wake up and use the brain for its purpose. The Communist Chinese government are a pack of insane Rabid dogs with no emotions
Not even close with so-called democrats, like Obama or Kerry.

Governments do not care about (your) human rights, China is no different. This goes back all the way throughout history, no matter the group.

I can walk down the street with a Sign Saying OBAMA sucks big Elephant cocks in Hell and have nothing done to me. Could you do the same in other countries such as China?
Again, I suggest you to wake up and use your brain for its purpose. Any republican government doesn't care what you are speaking while your speech is harmless. Of course you can tell anything on the street because nobody cares about your existance. But as soon as you become a dangerous competitor, your freedom of speech immediately disappears. Google McCarthyism and what's happened with communist party of USA before trying to sell this "freedom of speech" shit to anybody. Seriously, it's time to learn a history of own country. I think not. I think you will be Executed.
Oh yes, through fucking by elephant cocks on the public.

I think not. I think you will be Executed. It depends on what you put on the sign. If you put bullshit on the sign, nobody will care. If you put other things on the sign (wikileaks documents for example) you get blasted right away. This is not different in the US, the boundary is only a little higher. If our government had the chance, Ed. Snowden would be dead, despite sending information trough American Journalists.

Not in the least surprising. I love how easily the media controls what and how people think. I bet if you ask the average person in the US about what country likes to start wars, is a danger to world peace, etc, they will answer something like Russia, Syria, Iran and other countries in the middle east. AKA the countries that the US government WANTS YOU to fear and hate, so they can spend your taxpayer money to fuel the corporate war machine.

Wrong. I don't think anyone else in the world (including the Chinese and the Koreans) will be as war crazy as the Americans. And why blame the Chinese, when the Americans are invading every square inch of the planet?

And why blame the Chinese, when the Americans are invading every square inch of the planet? LOL! That is a fact that Americans like to ignore, the Chinese and Russians aside from their ethnic and neighbour based conflicts are mostly concerned with making sure their empires flourish. America meanwhile doesn't seem to know how to do this ( Which can be linked to the piss poor Literacy and Maths rankings they and other western countries get ) so they go around stealing resources instead since they don't really have their own economy anymore. Unlike a lot of people I don't think all these wars are to do with religion, back in the day certainly, but now I'm convinced it's always over resources, the Oil in the middle east, the drugs and precious metals in Afghanistan, hell you had Vietnam and rubber plantations which the U.S would have needed for all their vehicles and tanks ( See a basic wiki page for information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelin_Rubber_Plantation ) the majority of people just aren't that religious enough anymore to get all uppity about somebody worshipping a different god anymore.

Monbux Not the Chinese people....The Chinese Government. And as far as eating Dogs well I'll just keep that opinion to myself. I'm better off that way Other than the border disputes, the Chinese government has never invaded a foreign country to seize its oil and gas, although they are one of the biggest importers of the petroleum products. IMO, they are less rabid than the American government.
