Social media has it's uses, but in the end, I believe the bad parts of it will far outweigh it's good parts.

There's always two sides of the coin.

One negative side with social media is that it seems to favour entertainment and quick and easy stuff, it does not really go in depth. And people are very quick to jump to conclusions, and rumors spread fast. On the other hand, the most interesting thing with news articles is often the comments.

In the end, I think it's like anything else - use it responsibly. For some, it can become an obsession, and that's not healthy.

Frankly, I was surprised to know it is still alive.

I tried Diaspora, but it was quite a while ago. Maybe it's improved in terms of traffic. But at the time, nobody was there, and I didn't wait around to find out if it picked up. This was a couple years ago.

never used facebook socially. I only use it for business purpose... more people on facebook now than there was few years back SO bigger plateform for those using it as a tool rather than social platform.

I still think facebook isn't dead, since facebook allready has tons of users, it only needs to use that fact in a good way and there you go, another 2 years cycle is around.

This is the only reason of their existence the huge member base and this is the reason they will not die overnight , but within next 5 years I can say 80% of the existing user will quit it not only fb but most of the social networking websites and we will see something new can't say how much different it will be compared to what we have now.

ORKUT is officially going down on 30th of sep as the news confirmed by google itself , it was one of the first social networking website that i joined ..? and I know how Facebook took over it and made it obsolete. I won't get surprised if Same thing happens to facebook. the only question is " Who's gonna take over it .? " keep trying maybe you are the one.

Thinking about it that way it feels a bit weird to have one made from pre 2010 and be considered an early adopter by that standard
Think 2007 with increasing activity into 2009 lol

In other words hello Bitcoin I am there points to that low point in 2007 which looks like Bitcoin now haha
http://www.quandl.com/markets/bitcoin-data

The only thing Facebook is good for is its message system, because it's ubiquitous. I have it online, on my phone, etc.

However, the price is a bit steep (all my personal info, and as much as I try to keep it private, people will tag me etc).

FB is not dead (I see people aimlessly scrolling their news feed everywhere I go. Don't understand why, but I digress). However it is has peaked in its current form, and thats why they are branching out by acquiring different businesses and releasing different sorts of apps such as Paper.
