The strangest thing just happened here in Sandwich, IL.

The power went off in my house. And, and a few neighbor's homes, but not all of them. Just scattered along the adjoining local blocks.

But, it wasn't just a neighborhood thing, for when I went to the gas station to purchase more smokes, others from other parts of town were experiencing the exact same thing - scatter outages.

An hour and half later, virtually to the minute according to my internet history, the power came back on sans the usually electrical crews doing repairs.

Here's the kicker: When people called, us included, to report the incidents, we were all informed that ComEd was not aware of any outages in our community.

That is weird .
 Do you own a home with a single  power meter?
 An apartment with a lot of meters ?
Or a 2 family home with 2 meters?


This outage has an explanation.   But if you are a single home the power company  would be wrong.  If there are multiple meters  I could see it happening.

plans offered below can allow a power company to turn off a  home's meter not just the ac  .  You could look around for a radio box connected to your meter.

If you have wires above ground you can look for radio boxes near the transformers.

This happened in In Indiana one whole town was out and you go about 100 yards down and there was power but its because the electrical circuit runs different ways and there is a lot of different electrical circuits around one town or city they all run different ways soo if one town went out the others didn't. it could of been to an accident or something to involve the poles to turn off my best bet is that they hit a breaker on accident.

this can be true as there are redundant power supplies and a lot of stuff is inter woven.

It differs from area to area.


When I was first married we lived in Astoria ,Queens  New York in a small apartment.  There was a large blackout most of Queens went out my entire  neighborhood was dead.


But my refrigerator had power!  It was illegally tapping an underground power line that did not feed into Astoria at all.

I had a free unmetered non-detectable powerline for 5.5 years.

 It was in the late 80's early 90's  it would have been nice for mining.  I could run an s-2 for free.
