They created a new genesis block, but didn't think or know enough to take down the nodes before they did it.  Someone downloaded the new client and mined the premine block.

The github wasn't even setup properly..

Pools should have shut down once you called relaunch.

I set up failovers for just this situation but failovers mean shit if the stratum isn't shut down.
