Hi,

All right, I´m a bit confused, tried to find more infos about different USB running mining distributions, but the forum software knocks out my patience... (Searching to fast, wait 90 sec...after the FIRST search?)

Whatever, since 2 month I´m running a small GPU Miner with an USB Distro and just want to know if there are others what I can try and which support more algos. And yes I´m a Linux-noob and I´m not able to edit my distribution to bring in more features, but I think it is a good chance to get in contact with Linux and better late than never...

I like the idea to have a pre-configured-ready-to-run-from-USB-Linux instead of a windows. I´m stucked at SMOS - it just works, with some small problems but stable since march. So this little list is what I found the last months...

- Smos-Linux 1.3 (My current solution)
- Litecoin-BAMT (didn´t try it)
- Ex0-BAMT (Bad Performance on my rig)
- PiMP (looks good, will give it a try)

Do there exist others? Is there already a thread with listed USB-Mining Distributions? What do you prefer?

Thx,
MCD

Excuse my not native english Wink

I prefer PiMP.  Really easy to get going.  Install to USB and putty in to ip, edit each of the .conf files for each type of algo you plan on running.  Then it becomes as easy as selecting the algo and clicking restart from the web interface.  Linux newbie here too.

I had BAMT before, it was nice, simple and working properly. I moved to PIMP to test it. not bad till now. But i prefer BAMT a bit more. I think BAMT is more stable than PIMP (Although pimp is very young nowadays).

I use BAMT. You know Smos-Linux has a donation script that mines at the dev's pool for 15 minutes every night, right? http://www.smos-linux.org/donate/
