Brock Pierce has posted a rebuttal to the allegations made against him. He claims that they are without merit and aimed to unfairly discredit him. Brock is claiming that his successful election to the board of the Bitcoin Foundation is proof enough that he is a valued and trusted member of the Bitcoin community as a whole. In fact, he claims to represent 127,000 members of the community in the MTGox fiasco. Is that true? It seems that his victory was a mere single vote over the next leading contestant. This in a vast field of 71 voters. Is this really representative of the community that he has called on to trust him? I would propose that in light of the feedback from the community that Brock offer to open the vote to the whole community and not just a few elite members. Yes, Brock and Vinny should have a special election open to the full community. That is the only way to assure that the Brock has the necessary consensus to lead. https://bitcoinfoundation.org/forum/index.php?/topic/965-brocks-rebuttal/Xtib

Regardless of the truth or falsity of the allegations about his past, the present proposal put forward by his group is a joke for the Mt. Gox depositors.
Why on earth should we agree to them taking over and spending a substantial sum on investigation when this should be performed by the court prior to any decisions being made?

I wonder what kind of promises or payoffs were made to get there.

Does Brock Pierce have consensus of the Bitcoin Community to represent it?Nobody has a mandate to speak for our community. Have you read " The Declaration of Bitcoin’s Independence" http://bitcoinmagazine.com/13072/declaration-bitcoins-independence^^Everyone should read this at least one time.

No but he doesn't represent the "bitcoin community" (whatever the hell that is) he presents the members of the bitcoin foundation who did vote for him. Were George Bush and Obama not the last two presidents because they didn't have "the consensus of the US people"?

The lot that makes up Sunlot have been buds prior to the advent of Bitcoin. They have been in bed with one another - literally and fictitiously - for many a years. It was/is nothing less than a 100% money grab, that's all, fucking everybody who did have an account with Mt Coxs up the ass sans lotion.

Bitcoin is still very young. Perhaps when the project/ecosystem is more mature Brock Pierce will lose interest? He seems to have a habit of finding new investors once the old companies are struggling and/or getting sued.

Halfway through the second sentence, I was already formulating a reply, but see you beat me to the punch. Speaking of Beat It!, Brock Pierce's partner. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeOvcT4486Q

The Bitcoin foundation is a joke and completely goes against the idea of a decentralized currency.

True enough, but... Most "jokes" don't have an enormous pile of digital money and control over the developers paydays. "Yeah, there's a monster on the loose. It's got our heads into a noose" ~Some old bandThere are at least two threads about taking software development away from the foundation (this story will get even more interesting)

Based on actual age of currency we are talking about, compared to, for example, age of average fiat, we can't really expect anything.
