Since money is simply stored up labor of the people, I might consider buying some of their labor.

I actually planned out a solid life with $1 mil. I probably wouldn't have to work for the rest of my life. I would use roughly $3000/month, which in the country I plan to move to is a pretty great life. That gives me about 28 years w/o any interest, which brings me to 56. During that time, I'm sure I'll do some stuff here and there that would net me money, and the interest I gain off the money sitting there I'm pretty confident would take me into my 70's at least (i haven't actually done the math, but seems like it would). So I don't think I'd buy anything huge, I'd just retire and do some light traveling, live out my days in one of my favorite places and be very happy

unfortunately that amount is not enough, in certain areas like california.
but I would most likely use it to pay off all the debts and buy debts for investment for a secure return.

Sadly, $1M isn't really enough to retire on these days, but I'd see how close I could get with it. It's not that I want to stop being productive; I just want to stop doing a job where I'm told what to do. I want to create my own things my own way. And I want to be able to spend a little more time the people I love. 40 hours a week doesn't sound like much, but it does eat up a significant portion of one's available time (after all the necessities like sleeping, eating, etc.).

It depends on your lifestyle and how old you are. As i mentioned in my post I'm 28 and would have to do very little for the rest of my life if I had 1M.

I'd buy some tobacco, as my current pack is almost empty. Then, I'd sit down and smoke a cigarette, thinking about the pros of hiding the money from my wife (party!) vs. the cons of sharing with her (less party). After some months, everything would be over, leaving me behind completely wrecked, psychologically and physically. No, actually, I'd buy us a house (quite expensive here, if you don't want anything special, ~650k are gone easily) to have this pension-thingy resolved (well, kind of... who knows how things develop) and the remaining 350k would probably go into Bitcoin. .edit: grammar
