Can someone please help me with getting my Public Key from Multibit client? I heard you need your Public Key for multsig and I have no idea what that even is but I'm wondering how I can get the public key.

In order to get the maximum amount of activity points possible, you just need to post once per day on average. Skipping days is OK as long as you maintain the average.

Isn't your public key the BTC address? I think you mean you're trying to get the private key. Go to the wallets menu and then to export private key. Then after you exported it to a file just open that file with notepad and you should see your private key in there. |

"Private key", "Public key" and "Address" are indeed 3 different things. With private key, you can work out the public key but not the other way round. With public key, you can work out the address but not the other way round. |

If you don't know what MultiSig even is, then why are you trying to find your public key? I don't think there is an easy way to find a public key from MultiBit at this time. You might have better luck asking in the MultiBit forum: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=99.0 |

Your public key is your BTC address. You can go to receive then copy an address that you want to receive at/use. |

Your public key is your BTC address. You can go to receive then copy an address that you want to receive at/use.
This is not true. A public key is a 256 bit number if compressed (or a 256 bit x coordinate and 256 bit y coordinate of a point if not compressed) calculated from the private key using ECDSA with the Secp256k1 curve. A BTC address is a hash of a public key with a version number prepended, a checksum appended, and then Base58Check encoded. |

I answered this in the other thread but since this exists I think it's relevant to post this here as well: It is not that simple, I don't think you can see it from the wallet as it is. I do not use Multibit, though. One thing to note right away is that your address is generated using a cryptographic digest (hash) of your public key, so there is no way you can go back. It is not possible to compute the public key using your public bitcoin adress. You will need to use your private key to calculate that, there are some tools for this luckily and the easiest method I can think of is going to https://www.bitaddress.org and choosing "Wallet details". There you can input your private key in pretty much any format it happens to be in and it will calculate for you the public key, either in the 65-byte uncompressed format or the 33-byte compressed format, whichever you need. As far as I remember, the page also works offline so you can do that for security and you should, too. To see yout private key, export your private key to a file in Multibit and open the file in your favourite text editor. Can I ask, what do you plan using your public key for? |

For the address u want your public key, just import it to blockchain.info and find out the public key from import/export section. |

So: #1 start multibit #2 let it sync (optional) #3 go to tools -> export private key #4 select dont encrypt and hit export private keys #5 go to your multibit folder #6 open multibit.key with a texteditor; this will look like this: # KEEP YOUR PRIVATE KEYS SAFE !

now as you can see we have a private (!) key. You probably have more than one. The public key from blockexplorer.com worked for me previously for multisig transactions. AFAIK blockchain.info does not display the public key.

The public key from blockexplorer.com worked for me previously for multisig transactions. AFAIK blockchain.info does not display the public key.
Maybe I put something else by mistake, it was the hash or something like that. Did you check my answer? It will take you two minutes that way. |

in the multibit from the menu choose export private keys and then get keys as you wish password protected or simples |
