Now they are running a forum on it, at forum.bitcoin.com, trying to compete BitcoinTalk.

Looks like it has a few users there but considering I didn't know it existed it likely has no PR
The site is working fine though

it was just launched 2-3 weeks ago. alot of improvements will be added over the course of the next months.

I don't understand, why this splitting of the community? This is bad for the whole Bitcoin ecosystem. We don't need 10 freaking forums, we need to unite all of together on one forum.

I think that we already have enough of the competition outside of the Bitcoin space for us to waste energy between us in this way.

Bitcointalk is the first and the oldest one. We need everybody here, together!
You are wrong, there is no splitting. forum.bitcoin.com is open to anyone to express his opinion concerning  the bitcoin, It is a democratic forum that respects the opinions of the users, that in any case the purpose is not to disorient the users, but leave them choose for themselves what will follow in one or more issues concerning bitcoin..

Give it some time. Everything that just starts out is shiny, BitcoinTalk has run for years without problems. Problems will inevitably show up down the line, it something that comes with the territory of having an extremely large userbase.

It was bought by Roger Ver. He is trying to run it as an alternative community site.

They have a funny sense of humor... They promote freedom of speech and limited privacy? {Look at all the tracking features that are built into that sites} What's up with that?

It has a lot of potential, because it's backed by money and it has a very good domain. I wonder if Mark still owns that domain? I guess a lot of the old users, who lost some money on MtGox will be very hesitant to

invest time in a site that was or are owned by Mark.  Huh

I have been a moderator for a Bitcoin related site for a while now, and with little funding we struggled... just imagine what a site will be like, if it has access to funding for promotions / lucky draws etc. etc...

It will grow... Mark my words. {excuse the pun}  Grin

Title says it all. Why is it down?

I can tell that there are to many months that the price of bitcoin is almost stable. The few fluctuations had from bitcoin these months are more than normal for a currency. If will continue in this way it will be boring because the people want to see its increase of value.  Wink But is not going down. Maybe the time when was made the main post was a period of being down but even this down wouldn't has been to much. You can follow from the below chart the price of bitcoin since the January of this year and you will see yourself the above I write.
