Take the option to lock threads away from users... Or even just users that abuse it. If something needs locked/unlocked the mods can do it

What sucks is, iirc, the poster can unlock the thread, bump to the top with some inane shit, then lock the thread again. Wee, how lame.

Depending on how they do it, that might be against forum guidelines. If they bump it, they must say something worthwhile and on-topic.

The thread in and of itself is a prima fascia violation of the worthwhile standard of value, and unlocking to bump and post further, one sided conversation is an absolute violation of the rules.

Therefore I would submit for your consideration that the 1-post locked thread is illegal at inception and should be removed by swift moderation in every case.

I just recommended to someone in a PM that they create a 1-post locked thread to contain extra info that they didn't want to clutter up a main topic post with. I really think they are useful in some cases.

When they are annoying, mods should delete them. Report ones that you find annoying.

Locking your own topics in general is allowed so that OPs can disassociate themselves somewhat from topics that they no longer agree with. Otherwise their names would be attached to the active topics forever. It's also useful for trade topics that become closed.

So the SolidCoin folks have been creating 1-post locked threads announcing stuff.

Putting aside how you feel about SolidCoin, I wonder what other people think about that practice in general.  It seems to me to go against the purpose of "Forums" -- seems to me the whole point is discussion.  If you don't want discussion, then buy an ad or publish information on your website.

Seems to me locking threads should be a last resort instead of "I'll just lock every thread I make to keep out the trolls."

Seems to me that the amount of bitching CoinHunter does about this forum in general that it's a little ironic that he should use it to promote "his" software.  And no, he shouldn't be allowed to in my opinion.
