Recently the following post was made in regards to the upcoming fix for Mazacoin

"The Mazacoin people are like a kid that says he's going to clean his room.  He really wants to, sincerely starts but gets distracted by his Buzz Lightyear toy and you find him killing imaginary aliens in a pile of Legos 2 hours later.  I'll be believe them when they start using the word "done" and not "will be done", etc.  They had a chance a month or so ago to make a great coin and screwed it up royally just by kind of wandering away from the project.  This is worse than a scam, they just kind of stopped caring or got bored or something.  The same thing happened to Juggalocoin, another one that could have been up there on Coinmarketcap until the dev just faded out.  Again, no obvious scam, he just found something else to do instead of hanging around to get rich (or at least make enough cash to buy some nice toys)."

Here are some fundamental facts people are not taking into consideration....

Up until now most all of the DEV work, marketing work, PR, and everything else has been handled by myself and AP...I brought in a person to help with the BTC_Oyate twitter account and the Kimitsu asset management website this Volunteer Locked both the website and the twitter account  hence the reason the BTC_Oyate twitter has been silent. I just recently got the Kimitsu Asset Management site back under my control.

AP has locked out changes to the mazacoin.org site and the mazacoin twitter and the poster has a good point about AP wandering off to other projects...but also Mazacoin is open source so anyone is free to develop app's websites, block explorers, POS systems, ETC.  AP did his part in starting this but the community needs to come together and help with support development.

"Payu's been MIA"
No I haven't, Unlike many other coin dev teams, I spend most of my days out in the community talking with people, explaining how mazacoin works, helping people set up wallets, trading accounts, walking them through basic mzc transfers and trades...many of these people have ZERO experience with any crypto currency. Im also responsible for doing interviews, meeting with Tribal Leaders, Casino executives, Economic development directors, Chiefs, etc so about 14 hours a day is spent working on Mazacoin promotion and marketing in a hands on way  so in no way am I "Wandering off" on Mazacoin. Im the one that got MZC on Lora Hubbel's radar and got her interested in learning more about the positive elements of Cryptocurrencies. I recently Brought in James Roundstone  to help with PR and Consumer relations

Attacks on MZC
Mazacoin has suffered several attacks almost from day one...from a scam trading site liquidating client MZC holdings, to several internet trolls spreading rumors regarding Mazacoin being the legitimate currency of the Lakota nation. Then the mazacoin.org site suffered a social engineering hit which caused it to be suspended for a couple days.
People complained that we had no public statement from any tribal leader stating support for Mazacoin...but as soon as a video where Lakota leader Alex White Plume came out showing his support it was immediately attacked. The MZC water challenge video was Mocked after it came out.  what people dont understand is alot of the marketing and promotion we're doing is aimed at the Native american community...the water challenge was one of these...the concept started in our community as a way to show support for protecting water. But again the trolls struck, I do want to say I appreciate all the supporters that stay true to mzc and are right there with us.

Plans for the future....

We have several upcoming plans for mazacoin...including a food stall for pow wow season which will accept MZC, More on Crypto Talk radio program as well as On Blast and more programming, Upoming MazacoinTV video channel, Developing Kimitsu Asset Management into a primary trading house for Mazacoin and other crypto products. Several other tribes hae expressed a interest in Mazacoin and are looking forward to working with them to develop mazacoin into their existing tribal economic development strategy
these and several other ideas are currently on the table for Mazacoins future.

Stay Tuned....

Payu Harris

The problems with the coin have been well documented in the coin's ann thread here. Basically, every wrong move possible, and the dev team has made it.

People begged for a dev presence in this forum, yet the dev team denied it. They kept repeating they don't have time to deal with fud... okay. So ignore it, and just post info like normal devs do, provide info, interact with the community, etc.

AP has been pretty much a disaster. The coin's website he made looks like it was made by someone who has vision problems. A logo of a pirate is not exactly what you want stamped on your main page, especially when said pirate is sitting on a giant premine. The entire site looks incredibly unprofessional.

And then he has gone on to other coins, reusing the same maza template for Maplecoin, rumored to have made GreeceCoin, and probably many others. It's not just an issue of a dev's time being spread too thin, but the fact he has been trying to 'cash in' on the nation coin fad, hence people believing Maza is exactly the same thing. A quick way to make a buck by the devs.

Coin forking to reduce rewards, more dev interaction, allowing the community to help, has been mentioned many, many times previously, when the coin was still worth something. And every time, AP has denied allowing people here to help. Boxxa quit over it (to the best of my knowledge). I seem to recall the mazatalk people offering to help with a website and a new logo was also created, but both were denied.

So it's not trolls that are the coin's problem. It has been the incredible mismanagement of the coin to date. Sure, trolls don't help, but in the end, it wouldn't have mattered. So many missteps and the coin would have sunk regardless.

Don't take this as trolling or fud.... take it as constructive criticism. If you want to save the coin, you'll need to change how you have been doing things. And ignore this forum at your own peril.

thats a very fair post and agree with all of that
I have been watching wondering whether to buy never being able to decide as one thing after another

tbh have seen videos of Payu and tbh he gets 'out there' personally more than anyone else from other small coins so credit for that and I also think he is an intelligent guy, well spoken

problem with this site is you never know who's who and who's trolling

for me you would need to(Payu) take a phot of yourself on webcam now with timestamp and bitcointalkforum written on piece of paper to wholy convince me was you

if it was you i would go straight to cryptsy and buy a few hundred thou mazas and the IDEA i love

It does seem to be Payu.  Thankyou for the update if you are.  However, I can see how this is a valid concern, considering this user has only two posts for this year showing in his profile.

Mazacoin is supposed to be a "sovereign currency" anyway, so what does it matter? If it is true that the Lakota Indians approve of and support Mazacoin, then let them secure the blockchain and trade the coin among themselves. Why would the coin need to be approved by non-Lakota Indians for the actual Lakota Indians to start using them? That thinking seems to run contrary to what the goal supposedly was. If the fear is that malicious third parties may drive the value of the coin down if they are not appeased, then that should have been considered before it was heavily promoted to people who are primarily interested in making a profit from pumping and dumping coins.

Yes, Mazacoin needs a high value against the US dollar for the citizens to adopt it as the dollar is the currency in use.  They do not live in complete isolation from the rest of the world.  Keep in mind that those nations do not own their land in the way most nations do.  They have the use of it through treaty with the US, like Great Britain had the use of Hong Kong.  This is an immoral stance for the US in my opinion.  However, that's a different though not unrelated issue as it demonstrates the position they are in with regards to the power the US holds over those nations to force them to concede to US commercial or government interests that desire to exploit that land or whatever they want.  Mazacoin as a currency would be a step in the direction of self determination for those nations.

Since Mazacoin isn't backed by gold and doesn't have widespread use, it has to get that value against the dollar from exchanges.  As Mazacoin is gradually, over time, being accepted and used as a currency, it will function as a means of generating wealth to those nations that mine it and trade it.  The promise of wealth and ease of use over fiat generates acceptance.  So, yes, the exchange value is very important for the citizens of those nations to adopt and use it and improve their standard of living in the process.

Mr. Harris,

I'm that poster who said you wandered off.  I didn't mean to insult you but I won't retract my statement.  I lost money (100% my fault let there be no doubt).  I held during that massive pump because I figured it would dump, dip and rise back to the heights because you were in charge and leading the way.  That didn’t happen.  FUDsters attacked, there was no coordinated response, no leadership and the coin became a low profit high difficulty mining target for Chinese ASIC farms.  You guys were the first altcoin that was "official" and attached to a real world institution. That was huge.

What you have to realize as that, no matter what ideals you might have, etc. we here at Bitcointalk are your market.  We mine, invest in coins, comment on coins, decide what to pump and what to dump, etc.  Investors come here for information (at their peril if they don't keep their BS filter on full).

In my opinion regular people will never use altcoins in stores.  What we'll see is some big payment processor issuing Visa cards that link back to your wallet.  To Walmart it will be just another Visa transaction.  I think Blackcoin does this already.

To get valuation, to make your coin worthwhile, to get those payment processor types interested means you need to be on here all the time, answering FUD, fixing people's wallet problem, explaining how the pre-mine isn't be stolen, etc.

At this point you will also have to add things like anon transactions, X11, POW and whatever buzzword is current at the moment so as to keep us interested and involved.  The scene has moved on.  Flappycoin and Pandacoin have tried revival without much success so far.

Once you do all that you'll wind up sitting on a $40 - 50,000,000 valuation that you can use to help the Lakota tribe.  It unfortunately means making some whales richer and helping the kind of annoying white guys you (with good reason) detest tool around in new Lambos.  It all works together.

BIG WINNER!

Emphasis added

That's a really irresponsible idea. Buzzwords might keep investors (read: speculators) interested, but stability is what keeps a cryptocurrency well. Besides, no legitimate cryptocurrency actually needs investors anyway. Also, X11 is an implementation of PoW.

Besides, no legitimate cryptocurrency actually needs investors anyway.

They should put that right up front on their main website as a banner. It's seemingly been their mindset from the beginning... hence the coin's current valuation. Ignore this site, ignore investors, ignore community suggestions/help offered, and, well, you get what you have now.

"Besides, no legitimate cryptocurrency actually needs investors anyway."

- Willisius

In the year of our lord 1860 Carl von Rothschild invested the funds to found the Bank Of Finland.

A true story.
