I have been here for some 3 (4?) years, and never posted anything like this.

But, an old friend, and a veteran hacker ("hacker" as in, "coder") Xah Lee is in trouble. This made the top news on hackernews.

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7755118

At my urging, he set up a bitcoin address. Thus, it's a minor honor to propagate bitcoin usage. I made a donation, of course, and also urged him to keep his BTC as BTC (and not convert them!).

Folks, let's show them the power of bitcoin. Make some donations now, whatever tiny amount you can afford to throw away.

His bitcoin donation address is:

i spent 5 minutes reading those long posts.. i still don't know why he needs the money. i'm thinking if you want to fundraise for him, his message and plight should be conveyed more clearly. all i know so far is that he's broke, that it might (or might not) be because he's been lazy, and that he may be evicted soon.

Well surely if he was a talented hacker / coder he wouldn't need the donations ?
