There are many users who get banned for posting spam and spamming messages, these members are generally banned for a period of time like 14days or 30days. Now I want to propose a new way to lift the ban from them. My way doesnt specify a time period for which the user will be banned, my way of lifting the ban from users is based on the good reports they make to the mods after they get banned. As you know that when you get banned the only thing you can do on this forum is read it and report the bad posts to the mods. So now suppose I get banned, then the penalty i get from the mod should be like that I should now report 50 bad posts to the mods to get unbanned and if too many of my reports are useless then my penalty should be increased. This way will certainly increase the burden on the mods but it will help in the betterment of this forum. So what are your views on this ??

Or the mods could stop acting like such Nazi's and stop with the selective banning. (Disclaimer: Also had an acc muted)

I suppose it's not a ridiculous idea, but the mods will probably just say to accept your ban and do the time. I think people would then just try spam the reports in to get unlocked. Would they all have to be reports that were handled successfully? Getting 50 good ones correct at 100% probably isn't as easy as it sounds and would probably take most users a week to achieve anyway.

well it will take 2-3 days to report 50posts, and its not necessary that they get 100percent correct, they can get atleast 60percent correct, if they make less than 30percent correct they get to report more 20posts and if they report less than 10percent correct, they get a permanent ban. Like this we can make this system

this just sounds like more work for the mods, something they probably don't want to add to the pile.

Like this we can make this system People will report posts without any reason for it to be reported, or file frivolous reports out of spite, no matter what penalties you add. It's just going to cause more trouble.

It isn't hard to pretend that you are reporting bad post. You can report those 50 bad post first then after your ban is lifted, you start spamming again. It isn't hard to find bad post in this forum.

This might be a good idea but would require allot of programming effort to implement it in reality, additionally most of the ones banned wouldn't be useful in reporting and would just report any 50 posts (thinking it will work) and therefore might increase mods work.

Thats a pretty nice idea but i dont think the mods will like it too much because it will increase the work for the mods and its also not possible to control the number of spam reports made by the banned users.

the funny thing is that this is kind of like ratting out your compatriots after getting caught. whoever rats is just a rat bastard. basically you get caught and then point your finger at someone else to reduce your "sentence."

There should be no temp bans period.
Permaban first time, make offenders start over from the beginning.

that will be too harsh IMO

How is it? You don't have to report spam from users. Report stuff that is in the wrong sections or just plainly breaks the rules (or is that ratting too?), but this still isn't a good idea.

This is a horrible idea. It would result in people spamming the mods with false post reports in the hopes of getting their 50 (or however many they need). I just see this as being a really bad event in the making.

People who tend to get banned would also probably have bad reports, since they don't understand it.
And if they do understand it, well then they probably did it intentionally and should've known better, and ban length should not be reduced.
