^^^That is an epic quote from someone who had a high Gov't position in the past. This story would get more attention if there wasn't so much other good news/growth going on with Bitcoin.  Smiley

I love it. We're starting to see more and more prominent figures understand what Bitcoin can do. Critical mass is in sight.

I am tired of this fake news coming out of Coin Telegraph. One of the former directors of the United States Mint has supported Bitcoin. That doesn't mean that the US mint is promoting Bitcoin. Time to add Coin Telegraph to my blocklist.

It is incredibly annoying, but every "good" journalist twists the headline to make it sound more exciting. I can't think of one that doesn't...

It is still good news, but the title couldn't get much more inaccurate. How hard would it be to just tell the truth?
I think news can be just as exciting without extra spin.

I am not denying that is is not bad news for Bitcoin. But at the same time, the anti-Bitcoin lobby is going to use this as an excuse to bash bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies further. Sensationalist headlines help no one.

I agree. Coin Report and Coin Telegraph are worthless sites and I wish that they would stop posting their links here. I bet you anything that the article was lifted from some other site and the Coin Telegraph just added a headline and the line about Bitcoin at the front.

Yep, calling CoinTelegraph worthless is far too harsh and unrealistic. They do a better job of bitcoin news than traditional media outlets. Sure they aren't the best, but one more crypto focused media outlet that isn't spreading FUD is always a good thing in my book. Even if the titles are misleading at times.

Rude? I prefer brutally honest.

Here are my suggestions:

1. Post real articles that take real research and have real value.
2. Stop posting summaries of press releases.
3. Stop posting summaries of other news articles.
4. Stop posting summaries of reddit posts.

As a young resource the high staff turnover is bound to be an actual problem. With that in mind, the quality of articles can't stay at a constantly high level, even though we do post researches and analytics from time to time, and are working toward increasing the frequency of such articles.
You seem to have a hard time understanding that no site starts perfect.

I have no problem with putting a positive spin on things... heaven knows there needs to be balance to all of the false FUD.

All totally unrealistic requests. If CT wants to be in the business of aggregating existing news, there is value in that which you are free to read or pass by. I for one definitely see the benefit of having it all in one place like that; they are putting out a ton of content every day that I don't have to go search for elsewhere.

About #5 however, the sensationalized headlines; I concur.

aliceHortrex, I appreciate Cointelegraph and I even display your feed on Coinosphere.com, but the editor should have final say over the story titles and therefore get a chance to correct any overhyped headlines.

Even if the editor hasn't known what a bitcoin was for long, he/she should know the difference between:

Quote
US MINT to promote Cryptocurrencies
and
Quote
Former US MINT director supports Cryptocurrencies

The latter is a verifiable fact, the former can get CoinTelegraph into hot water if someone at the US Mint decides they don't like CT attributing bitcoin promotion to them. (Which they shouldn't.)

I hope this advice helps, & keep up the other great work there at Cointelegraph!

I think news can be just as exciting without extra spin.

But if they just told the truth, people wouldn't all click to see (earning the site money). They don't care if you feel let down. They care about whether or not they earned money off your visit. If you clicked through, they won.

FWIW, this is called "yellow journalism."

5. Stop sensationalizing like the headline here.

The most important thing. I have seen this in some of the mainstream media outlets as well. For the sake of increasing the visitor traffic, outrageous headlines are given. This must be stopped.

I agree, but it's like telling every professional cyclist to stop doping EPO. Ok, who's going to quit first? They're going to lose.

Sensationalizing headlines is dumb, but it happens consistently because:

1. Unfortunately it works.
2. There is fierce competition.

We're all smart enough to understand this and not get angry 12 times a day and learn nothing, right? RIGHT? Unless you've figured out how to universally solve this very old problem of sensationalism, go put this energy elsewhere.
