What exactly is my bitcoin public address?

Before installing bitcoin core i watched a video and was confident.  Only to find out that the video covered the older version and the public address is not so easy to find (not in the same way) as the older version of core.   I have searched this forum only to find many of the conversations regarding private key.  Also it seems the process between the old core and new version has changed regarding using the same key all the time public or private.  


So now im totally upside down here.    

What exactly is my public key and how to find it that i give people or a processing service like coinbase?


I did go to receive payment, and i clicked the recieve button and it gave me a smartphone code box which i guess i display on my website (if that is correct).
Under that box it shows:

Payment information
URI: bitcoin: long code......
Address: long code......

Are those my permanent address's that i display on my sites or give to coinbase processing?

Go to the receive tab and it will give you an address. The Bitcoin Core client has changed to encourage people to use a different address each time they receive bitcoins. It is better to use one address per transaction than to have a bitcoin address identity. If you always want to use the same address, you can check the "reuse address" box.

Thanks so much... yeah i dont mind using different keys if i am going to give someone a key to send me BTC in person or email for one time deal.  But for my websites (several of them)  i need something static both for the smart phones and for the ones that just want to purchase via their pc.

That helps alot, since i assume it is one way or the other ill just have to leave that "reuse address" box checked all the time.  Althought it would be nice in a furture update to possibly have the option to create both depending on the type of sale.  Example a sale via email which could use the dynamic value. And then a static one to assign to a particular domain name, so that each domain name sale could have its own address.  

I really appreciate the feedback  this is alittle on the wild side for us old timers

All addresses stored in your wallet should be "permanent".

A public key is the same as an address, just different terminology I believe.
