The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

1 word...

FPGA.

do a fourm search, you can pick up 1 FPGA for $580 it will use 20w electricity (FANTASTIC) and will do about 380hashes, you will find it will pay its self off in about 1year and a bit...

Way better then GPU mining mate (imo honest opinion).

Good luck, makes me with i studyed that micro electronic engeneering course i wanted to Sad

IMO this is boring.  Most of the fun for me comes from building systems and pushing it to the limit.

Agree

FPGA is boring, unless you know VHDL or something like that and would like to do some experiments.

And it is quite risky because it is hard to resell that FPGA board. I can sell my graphic cards to the gamers at any time.

With VGA it is more fun. I spent a lot of time writing automatic control script for my cards. It can't be compared with cgminer or other "professional scripts" but to me it is the best Cheesy

1. PSU: 80plus PSU, trusted brands only

2. CPU: Cheapest, lowest power consumption cpu you can get

3. Motherboard: Cheap one with 4 pci-e slots at minimum, 3 pci-e 1x and 1 pci-e 16.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_rig

This pretty much contains all the useful information you will need in order to get started. Things you will want to spend more money on (maybe) is a better motherboard with more than 2 pci- 1-16x slots and a gold rated power supply.
