Hi,
I jus saw that BTC is payment method in one Bulgarian site and i then clicked on the link learn more. Since then i am addicted to cryptocurrencies. I was working in an IT company for an year and we were about 300 people with laptops there. It was fun to mine some alt coins with part of my collegues. I had hope in some coins from the last year and they were saying that they will go to the moon like qrk, xpm, ltc, but nothing like this happened.

I'd love to tell more people about bitcoin but I have a really hard time explaining it to people. I confuse myself most of the time.

17 people and counting, everyone I truly care about now has at least 1BTC.

Remember Aaron Swartz, a 26 year old computer scientist who died defending the free flow of information.

You dished out at least 17 BTC amongst those you care about? Are they the only ones that have access to the wallets?

Nice shout though. Was the intention to give as an investment?

I got into it when I read about MT Gox. My wife and I discuss it a lot but we prefer to keep it kind of quiet.

Been talking about Bitcoin since a bought my first for 13usd 2011. Some are a skeptical, some don't even begin to understand it, but some are actually quite intrigued. The total number of people I convinced to actually buy some coins: 0. I do sometimes enjoy saying "you should have listened to me back when it was at 13usd" though

Excuse me sir, do you have time to talk about our Lord Savior, Satoshi Nakamoto?

More quotes I recalled during my mission to spread the BitGospel:

"Get out while you still can."
"At least with gold you can hold it in your hands."
"Didn't bitcoin get hacked by MtGox?"
"At least with Apple and Google, I'm able to control my investment."
"I don't trust it because there's no central authority. Anybody can hack it."

For all the troubles and ignorance I've had to face, converting even one individual makes the entire effort worth it. I converted four so far.

I heard that Bitcoin went bust/Bitcoin's CEO ran away with everybody's money. So much wrong with that statement.

I've tried to convince my family getting into bitcoin about a year back. Didn't work out though.

i didn't try convincing anyone in my family, but instead i just brought it up and they all didn't seem very receptive about it. my uncle is still bearish on it, even though it was $15 when i told him about it.. and now it's over $500.

Irony...of ironies.

My family is humoring me, I think, because they think they're the smart ones in the room. Besides, faux news has demonized bitcoin - um, bitcom - so they're indifferent.

My ex, as it turned out, took an interest...so I sent him btc (where he, of course, promptly forgot his password  Roll Eyes )and while he does now own btc, it remains to be seen whether or not he will figure out his password and be able to access it. I sent it to him at the best possible time though because it'd been 489ish or around there. Now it's $100 higher and he's psyched.

Plus it's torturing him knowing he can't access it so that's always a bonus for me  Grin

You say "anti government" like that's a bad thing...

Unfortunate times will bring out the best in good people and the worst in bad people

I have introduced bitcoin to most people I know and given coins to a couple friends.  I am thinking about trying out the new app on Facebook and send 5 bucks to like 20 friends who may be interested.
One of the best things anyone can do is attend a local bitcoin meetup or just start one yourself and post it here on the forum.
Keep spreading the word.  People learn in layers, they might not understand it the first time around, but if they hear about is 3 or 4 times they're more likely to grasp it.

I've got all my family and friends interested, only a few have dowloaded wallets, none have bought any btc. (they all want me to give them some though Sad )
just today however I convinced a local non-profit art gallery to take btc donations. I am going over tomorrow to walk them through the wallet/security things and to print them off qr code to display and hopefully get money donated.
this is thier website, http://ministryofcasualliving.ca/
I guess they will have to install a donate btc button on there too, any suggestions for a good, free "donate btc" app to add to the website or is a qr code and public address good enough?

I've convinced absolutely nobody to join. Everyone wants ME to personally guarantee that they will leave with x% of profit and to cover anything they don't get (ie. "I want 10x what I put in. If I give you $100 to invest, you have to return $1000 regardless as to what happens to the value of the coins).

Others keep thinking it's a get-rich scheme and if they put up $1k now they will be millionaires within a week.
