I kinda agree. It's a pain-in-the-arse amount of overhead, but the moderators/admins could delegate whitelist permissions to trusted users to lighten the load.

I think it should be brought back in some form, but I doubt it'll kill off ponzis. They'll just wait till they're free of the jail and then post them. People need to stop investing in Ponzis and they'll soon dwindle.

It won't kill off those ponzi, but it could limit spamming of ref links and shitty sites within the newbie section.

I agree with you, this would help in reducing down the spams by newbies, and if not a newbie jail then at least the newbies should be banned from posting in the lending section and other money related sections

That wouldn't matter for most of the annoying stuff, Big Scammers/Ponzi's etc... would buy ready account "at even higher statuses" and small loans scammers would do like they do usually and get an account to 5 posts and wait few hours.

if only make thread accessible to members when they become a member that would be good, lending and gambling threads, they shouldnt be allowed to start topics there. also will keep new casinos showing up advertising instead of earning the community and getting involved first also it can force them to buy advertising for theymos, So theymos might be good for you as well.

yeah if you notice many newbie casinos go straight from advertising, theymo should limit newbies and jr members from starting threads in the gambling section, it could bring him more revenue as casinos dont wanna waste there time posting and wanna get straight to advertising. or maybe charge 0.02 per month to let people advertise there casino on the threads can cut out the newbie pozis as well

It was removed about 4 months ago, when Theymos posted this: End of newbie restrictions; ban changesAbout the OP's question, I still would vote for bringing it back.

The best thing about Newbie Jail was that it limited them to a restricted space on the forum, which meant that abusers could be spotted and reported really quickly.
I think that the community does a good job at reporting those who break the rules, especially those who offend with brand new accounts.

I think we should bring it back. Many newbies are just trolling or participating in Signature Ads. If they truly want to post in other sections for a good reason, they will be willing to wait or at least requested to be allowed out. I remember that the restriction when I joined was annoying, but I could see why it was in place. The posts there were all crap, except for a few decent ones by established members.

Not only can newbs not have links in their signature, I think the minimum membergroup to participate in a sig deal is Member, so your logic there is flawed. The newb jail was a good idea, but anyone who is determined to scam, troll or use a sig deal will break out of it pretty quickly.

It's not going to help with either of those things, really. There are people that have been around a while that still do both of these. Newbie jail is just there to slow people down from exiting. And if someone makes 30 accounts at once, they can have all of them unlocked pretty quick anyways.
