Anyone can advice in replacing psu? Maybye my is causing errors.

Get a decent PSU.  The A1 psu was ok but eventually seemed to crap out.  Some still are working though.

I would get 1100 watt or so to make sure it works good with it.  But I would also do ROI math as I don't know if a A1 is worth a new 1100 watt psu in most cases.

What type of errors are you having?

Howdy!

I have 2  A2 Mega's with 6 blades. It appears as the PSU died. So I replaced it with a 1300w. However the machine still won't power on with ANY blade connected to the PSU.

The Pi and Controller board have LEDs and I can login to the Pi. However as soon as I power down, then plug in a blade to the PSU, nothing powers up.

Any ideas or suggestions.

brianoakes, would you please share on the circumstances of how your psu died?  I have just received 5 A2 Mega's and have been running them at 1200mhz (getting 110mhs) for the past day or so, but I'm worried that it might be putting too much stress on the psu.  What were your settings before your psu died and for how long were they running?

In my case it appears it was a crap PSU. I have that A2 working right now, running 1200, but I am only getting 88mhs out of it. It's running great, I was going to work on changing the other settings this week. BTW I had to plug in the power to the blades backwards in order for it to work.

On my other one, it works and runs for a little bit but then powers off. During the time working, it starts out at 88mhs then slowly dwindles down to 6mhs then it powers off. I am assuming I have bad blades or something.

For anyone interested (and using the A2), I've released a custom firmware for it that makes it much easier and nicer to work with - you can check it out and download it here:

i had the same problem check to make sure that your NEW pusu PCI-E ooutputs match what is on the orignal PSU.  If you look closelsy some of these are flipped lukcliy the miner board is smart enough not to provide power when the pins are reversed.

I good way to bring an A2 back to life is unplug all the blades and plug in  power to board and see if it starts.
Then plug in power to a single one start the machine , flip PCI-E if the A2 won't come back on rinse repeat

Please, upload hi-res photo (both sides) of controller board (board between ASIC board and raspberry pi. Is it only voltage level shifter or additional logic?
Thank you.

My problem was indeed that the Raspberry Pi controller that was integrated into my A2 Mini Terminator was defective.

Replacing it solved everything.

How did you find a replacement controller board for the Raspberry Pi in the A2 Mini Terminator?

Does anyone know how to power the A1/A2 controller without an ATX PSU?

I'm trying to run my 60 and 88mh units using a server power supply. I cut the ATX harness off of a dead PSU, and connected all of the 12v 5v and 3.3v wires on the harness to the appropriate server PSU outputs. I thought for sure that would be all that's needed, but the controller doesn't work. Any idea what I'm missing to get it to turn on??

I purchased an A2 Terminator and it arrived but won't boot. I've re-flashed the SD card and tried another card that's working in another A2 with no luck. It seems to be a problem with the Raspberry Pi, I get a power light but no activity light. It seems to be an old Pi in the A2 (as it has an SD slot and not micro SD).

Can I replace it with a newer Pi?

As anyone done this successfully?

Is there anything else I should try before I buy a new Pi?

Thanks

I don't think you can replace it with a new Pi - I believe the pinouts are different, so eBay is your friend and pick up and old one.

Beyond that, if you've tried a known working card in it and it doesn't work, then replacing the Pi is probably the only option.  The only other thing to try if yours has an ethernet extension cable is to try hooking the ethernet up directly to the Pi - I've had one of those cables go bad before.

I have had my A2 for 6 months or so with out hitch, that was until last night. It wont let me change any pool details. It is mining away just fine on the pool listed, but every time i try to change the pool details, to any other pool, it just refreshes back to current pool details. Great as long as i continue to mine the current coin selection, but not so great when i want to mine a new coin at release. Any idea what is wrong and how to solve the problem ? thanks in advance.

Hi guys,

I've bought an A2 Terminator with 5 boards.
On each board there is a led-row which blinks on Startup and stays on upon mining.
On one of the boards 2 leds of the led-row is are off and the Terminator reboots every Minute.
when I'm disconnecting the board the Terminator mines well.

Maybe cold (defective) solder-points as in the beginning only 3 leds were on. after messing around with the data-cable many more came up.
Any idea where to start looking on the defective board?

regards,
Andy
