I’m going on a trip to Tehran, Iran and planning to hold a Bitcoin workshop/meetup in Tehran by mid-summer.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience doing such a thing for their own community to get some tips or maybe slides/materials for the newbies and people that are interested but may not have the technical background, in finance nor computers.
I've been running btctalk.com forum and blog (
http://blog.btctalk.com) for over 1.5 years now (localized in Persian) and have gathered some people around since. My estimation is that there would be around 50+ people, I might print out some stickers or catalogues to hand out too.
Also, if anyone is interested to distribute their commercial goods in this meeting, contact me via private message or email me at info at btctalk dot com (preferably as soon as possible cause I got to have them shipped to Tehran on time)
My main goal for this workshop is to introduce what bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are and transparency of information, also to get Bitcoin enthusiast together to have a community to keep the meetups going.
I’d try to make a video of the whole presentation and workshop to have it online for people who could not attend.
I've read lots of Farsi articles on Bitcoins related subjects and there are a lot of mistakes and false facts, more than you'd think, circling around in Iranian community, such as some conspiracy theories regarding Bitcoin (lol?)
Any suggestions or critics on the idea would help.
Thank you,
p.s. any donation would be greatly appreciated as I have to rent a place and the fees for the catalogues and all.
I would thank all the donors at the meeting (Video/Photos will be provided to donors in case it’s needed
)
