It would be cool to have a "Bitcoin Island"

Well, at least smudger gave us an actual working link this time around. The main project site, however is here:

http://bitislands.com/

With the added benefit that you don't have to read through some tech-site article fluff.

“It’s a tourist destination, so there are obvious upsides for tourists who would not have to exchange that much cash – and hopefully, eventually, none at all,” he said. “This benefits hosts as well, who can compete for travelers who will be actively looking for places which accept Bitcoin.”

Fantastic growth potential for BTC in global travel. Combine this with other good news and we have the potential for an even more exciting year than last.  Smiley

There was an article today @ Coindesk too about this project :

This sounds very promising Smiley I am sure we all will travel there one day!

I cannot wait to see it. It will be best place for Bitcoiners to have a relax before trading Smiley

Bali is very popular with Western tourists, especially those from Australia and New Zealand. And currency conversion is a big headache in Bali. Bitcoin adoption can probably change it for the better.  Grin

I was thinking the other way around, Bali is such a popular destination for rich people (coming mainly from Oceania) that they might learn about it while visiting. A nice idea wherever it's implemented tho! Smiley

Bali would be an amazing place to become a bitcoin vacation hotspot.

I would love to go there and be able to buy my flight, hotel, meals, drinks, and entertainment all in bitcoin.

I really hope this project works out and they achieve widespread adoption. I'll try to follow their progress. I've always wanted to visit Bali and now I have even more reason to.

I would definitely visit. I need to renew my passport any way.
