Hi soshnet is up! Pronounced s-oh-sh-net it stands for social network, right now I'm mainly concentrating on the forums but I do have a joomla and jfusion connecting mybb 1.6 and elgg 1.8. With that said I would like to talk to you about bugs, DO NOT register from http://soshnet.net/mybb or /elgg ONLY register from the index page. I have not yet worked out the disabling of registration of the other sites, but they will not sync up if you register elsewhere.

Now let's get to why you should join. Plain and simple I respect privacy, there will be no analytics on my site tracking you and all ads will either be static, through operation fabulous or through anonymous ads.  Secondly we pay 80% of our ad revenue in bitcoin to users. This gives you the added bonus of knowing by posting and ensuring my forum is successful you spread the word about bitcoin. To jump start my forum two weeks from today I will be holding a drawing for 1 btc, normally though I will only hold a lottory the first of the month for 80% of our past months ad revenue; the chances of winning are directly linked to your post count for that time period.

tl;dr join soshnet be active get put into a monthly drawing of 80% of revenue generated paid out in bitcoin. To kick off I'm holding a drawing for 1 btc on the 20th, then every 1st of the month. Get some bitcoin for doing next to nothing!

basically post, I'm giving away 1 btc on the 20th in a drawing (more posts = greater chance of winning) then every first of the month I do a drawing in the same style where I give away 80% of our ad revenue.

Fair enough, good idea btw. If I were a bit more proactive I would do something like that.

Seems like a good idea in that it gives users incentive to get people to come to the site and view the ads. But won't paying straight per post (either directly or statistically) encourage lots of short low value posts? I don't see a simple solution, unless you already have member or post rankings in the software or something like that.

yea I've thought about that, I hope people can police themselves and not be idiots but I dunno the posts so far seem pretty good. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Perhaps you could offer incentives in a way that specifically target constructive posters for payouts, maybe using an upvote/downvote system. Of course, that could just cause the forum to devolve into nothing but pandering for upvotes. Maybe take post length into account as well. But like you said, probably best to deal with the issues as they arise.
