Quote from: Wiki
Dish Network is an American direct-broadcast satellite service provider. The company provides satellite television, satellite internet, audio programming, and interactive television services to commercial and residential customers in the United States. As of November 2013, the company provided services to just over fourteen million subscriber and has approximately 34,000 employees (with more than 25,000 employees located within the United States). The company is headquartered in Meridian, Colorado, though the postal designation of nearby Englewood is used in the corporate mailing address.

Yes indeed DISH is huge company and this is great news that they will accept bitcoin to pay for their services!
I hope other similar companies from all over the world will do the same very soon!

I hope it will. Just imagine how sweet would be to pay your cable TV bills with bitcoin :-)

Later maybe electricity bills and phone bills :-) future will be much better with those kinds of possibilities.

absolutely! Once DISH attracted more customers who would rather choose pay by btc, other same type companies would have to provide btc payment for customers.

Exactly a lot of other companies might be wondering why bother but it took Overstock one week to implement acceptance of Bitcoin, once merchants realize this then what have they got to lose.

This makes sense especially for pay-per-view micropayments. If you get only $0.99 for a single content feed, fees of traditional payment processors cut your margins a lot. And it looks like they decided against setting up their own payment system like on iTunes or Amazon.

Bitcoin - the way to go.

Hope it stays, direct tv was in talks to buyout dish tv and at&t is buying direct tv.
So if it stays on when and if they are bought out it would be a very very good thing.

The New World Order thanks you for your support of Bitcoin and encourages your continuing support so that they may track your expenditures easier.

But let's not forget that it could actually hurt short term bitcoin price if they use coinbase to just swap it all for USD.

Since it was in the Bitcoin Discussion thread secondary link
http://www.coindesk.com/dish-becomes-worlds-largest-company-accept-bitcoin/

Anyways Dish Network advertises a lot so most Americans and Canadians have a brand familiarity with their company
(Advertising on Cable)

Still its great news.

Believing in Bitcoins and it's ability to change the world
