Sending Messages With Bitcoins

I have an idea for a service, however it would require a message or comment field to be added onto the bitcoin message exchange. I'm basically talking about this. Is there any movement towards adding this type of message to bitcoin transfers?

It would seem to add a lot of value to the exchange of coins and could certainly add on to the transaction fees as an incentive for passing the message along.
