i think i made some transactions ,even 1btc worth each and it did not go through unless i paid like 0.001 or 0.0001 btw as fee on electrum!!!

i know for a fact that large transactions like 1btc and such or even 0.5btc(if we choose to) without any fees on the default bitcoin-qt client, right?

am I missing something here?

I did try the default client but I'm on a macbook air with ssd which is 256gb and from what i know that client will download like 150 mbs each freaking day even after full initial sync is done, right?

should i get bitcoin-qt to avoid fees - is it true i can transact without fees on the default client?

thanks!''

That fee is normal, even with qt-Bitcoin you'll have to pay it. If you dont pay a fee then it will likely take a long time for the transaction to be processed. A little bit of googling could have told you this

Yes if you have many addresses, then your transaction can go over 1000 bytes and you have to pay.
Do you have many small deposits at lots of addresses ?

Post the transaction id. Then I can tell you why you had to pay a fee. (I'm guessing your transaction was over 1,000 bytes or your change output was under 0.01 BTC.)
