Now why didn't this person sell during the decent volume on the climb past 5.80? What am I missing?
You are missing how markets work. Grin

Maybe he wasn’t on MtGox at the time.
Maybe he thought it would go up further.
Maybe …

Perhaps they were trying to see if that wall would hold. It shrank by 3000 btc in the last 20 or so minutes. Or perhaps it is just the same 'big player' say 'oh no you don't! That wall is gone!'

Maybe he was still constructing an accepted TOR circuit, duh?

I don't know about you, but most people don't have onion routing setup on their trading PCs.

Edit: I expect the majority of EU traders and bots is still disabled. The smaller bots may even be hacked together in a way that makes setting up a proxy a little annoying. And most of all, people may not have the time.

Expect some arbitrary motion when the European traders return.

Oh right! Buy high, sell low. Forgot.
You could also ask the same question with regard to the buyers. Why did they suddenly decide to buy at 5.8, but before the crash that price was way too high?

Then why was he using TOR again? Doesn't MtGox frown upon TOR? Am I being trolled?

How else is anyone in the blackout zone supposed to connect to Gox? In case you haven't noticed, a lot of traders are not able to connect to Mtgox right now. I don't know a single person from Europe who can connect.

There are two "mtgox is down" threads right below this one, in case you haven't noticed.

Err... the price was at 5.75 before the sell. If I was buying there, what's $0.05 more?
Ah, looks like you are right. Generally it’s just herd mentality and panic either way.

Then why was he using TOR again? Doesn't MtGox frown upon TOR? Am I being trolled?
I would rather avoid a big loss than follow MtGox’s stupid rules just because I cannot access it.

If they cannot handle a 24/7 exchange, they should not be having it trade 24/7.

I'm generally bullish but I am glad I got out at the 5.80ish top. Just didn't feel like it would hold. I wonder if this second dump to 5.30 will trigger anything deeper.

Well, if you shorted, then profit.
