Hello all, my name is Max.  I'm an American and a low stakes professional poker player.  As you may or may not know, last Friday, the DOJ shut down a few of the major poker sites, and made it really difficult for Americans to play.  In the wake of that event, I immediately began to research how one would go about setting up a P2P poker client with no central server, and in that research, I stumbled upon Bitcoin.  I haven't found enough people interested in the P2P/Bitcoin poker idea, and I don't have the programming knowledge to do it myself.  So for the immediate future, I am doing other things, which include playing more live poker, writing more, and coaching poker... which brings me here!

Even though I can't get my project off the ground, I still think Bitcoins are awesome and likely to become big, so I'd like to offer my poker coaching services in exchange for Bitcoins, (or another deal which I'll specify below).  I'm 27 now and have been playing about 9 years, 4 professionally.  I'm very good at no limit holdem, but have not studied too much about other forms of poker yet.  If you are seriously interested, I will provide a free one hour preliminary interview where we discuss where you are at in your game, what you're looking for, and just generally get an idea of what would help you the most.  If you want to take me on as a coach after that, lessons are generally 2 hours each, and my going rate translates to about 125 BTC per lesson, so 62.5 BTC an hour.  If you buy 4 or more lessons in bulk, I'll drop it down to 100 per lesson.  This is to incentivise you to purchase more than one, because there's no quick fix, and I think you'll get the most out of my coaching if you commit to studying and not just a one time fixer-upper lesson.  (And of course it's a safer guarantee for me.)

I don't give much of my personal info out, but I'm sure I will convince you of my knowledge during the preliminary interview.  Additionally, you can search for me on the major poker forums (kk<<trupqq on 2+2 and MaxWeiss on cardrunners).  I also got a few articles published on the 2+2 Magazine, which you can take a look at here:

http://www.twoplustwo.com/magazine/issue75/max-weiss-being-vigilant-finding-profit.php

[PM me if you've read this part and can help me out.  It's removed because it was dumb to post it with my real name attached...]

If you are interested in my coaching offer, for Bitcoins or for your help, please post in this thread or send me a PM.  I love poker, I love teaching it, I love playing it, and I want to promote it in every way that I can.  It's a truly fun and fascinating, and profitable, game.

Please let me know if you're interested, and if not, thank you for your time!

-Max

Not only can you coach poker you can actually play it for bitcoins.

http://betco.in could use some players.

http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1487.0 has a discussion about the decentralized poker system and how it might be implemented.

Can't you use your credentials but go through a European VPN to connect to pokerstars.eu and others?

I have told them and I check it regularly for players. Still, it's clunky and doesn't allow for multi-tabling, and has very few people on it.

Yes, but after a little bit of play, my account will get frozen and I will get an e-mail asking for identity verification-- i.e. scanned documents.  Only when I send the documents in, and they pass whatever verification measures they do, will I be able to continue playing.  Poker sites regularly do this to prevent players from multi-accounting or money laundering and the like.

You can multi-table at betco.in

As for credentials, I meant your actual irl identity. Are those turned downed now? I thought it was only your hostname that was turned down, like in France.

No, they don't just block IP.  Credentials are turned down.
