I am not surprised. If it's computerized, it can be hacked. If the hackers can get a good line-of-sight on anything, it can be hacked. If hackers can even just detect it, it can be hacked. Which is why I like the idea of keeping my Bitcoin on a computer that isn't hooked up to the Internet most of the time.

this not really a news, anyway familiar with cars know that you can control a lot through the CAN BUS connection and obviously, and there are wireless CAN BUS that you connect to your car, and then you can do everything from a distance, you still need hardware connected to your car to be able to do this, so it's not really hacking

So the new way to hotwire a car is to use a computer Epic win Although it makes sense most cars are computerized and vulnerable to Electro Magnetic Pulses among other things That said it scares me that a crash can be remotely triggered to kill someone by manipulating the brake control Or the CIA giving someone a car then remote controlling it and sending it home with the alleged terrorist in the drivers seat Although it would give a whole new meaning to the Bait Car XD

Really not a surprise. People can basically 'hack' anything right now, including human beings. Hacking a mere car isn't a surprise.

Doesn't surprise me at all. I figured that once they started putting computers into cars, that they would inevitably be hacked. And now, here we are. Hopefully nothing too bad comes of it....

We all knew hacking a car was going to be possible, the morons who build this stuff want to put an internet connection on everything, they're doing it with houses now forget cars, they had this documentary on CNBC I watched where those stupid news journalists were acting about how great it was that your house could detect when you entered and left the house and mess with the temperature settings etc. of the house. The moron who was making this stuff said he'd set up a connection to the internet so it would post when he left the house on his fucking twitter account!
Nice move moron! Lets all advertise to criminals when and where we are all the time and exactly what times we leave our houses so they can plan a break in! Genius! I don't care if they make it illegal to tamper with these devices I am going to make it my mission in life to fuck with this kind of technology and the people who make it as much as possible.

never forget Michael Hastings http://www.infowars.com/michael-hastings-feared-his-mercedes-had-been-tampered-with/Hastings, 33 years old at the time of his death, wrote for Gentleman’s Quarterly, Rolling Stone and Buzzfeed, reporting on national security issues.
His June 2010 article in Rolling Stone featuring remarks highly critical of the Obama administration made by Gen. Stanley McChrystal — then the commander of allied forces in Afghanistan — led to President Obama relieving McChrystal of command.
...
On Aug. 12 [2013], Kimberly Dvorak reported for San Diego 6 News that Hastings at the time of his death was working on an exposé on CIA director John Brennan. Interestingly, the linked to article from Dvorak has now been deleted off San Diego 6 News's website. Either an excerpt or the full text is here: http://reason.com/blog/2013/08/13/michael-hastings-was-investigating-johnhttp://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/08/13/journalist-michael-hastings-was-investigating-cia-director-john-brennan-before-he-was-killed-in-fiery-car-crash/Says that "Rolling Stone plans to run Hastings’s final story on Brennan in its upcoming edition, the late journalist’s wife said." I cannot find it.

I will agree that most smart homeowners won't use that kind of system. So let's fake out the system so that we can catch the criminals red-handed. Do enough of that and they'll probably think twice about whether we've really left the house or just set up a trap for them.

I heard about this few years ago, there was some ukrainian device which can scan surroundings and find your car unlocking frequency. I read, it was designed for insurance locksmiths and apparently hard to get hold of, but not any more it seems.
