I had opened paxum account specifically for this. I dont see many merchants accepting paxum (like paypal). Hence, I think I dont have any need for the account.
Any1 knows how to close the account?

My bet is that they (or some user accounts) got hacked, and that the hacker used the money to buy bitcoin.
It just seems a bit too much of a coincidence that they rolled out "security upgrades", forcing me to change my password, at the same time they blocked bitcoin transactions.
Also, I noticed that Paxum allowed me to set a reasonably weak password, one that wouldn't get accepted by many other sites.

I received an e-mail, seems a little strange to have the password reset if they weren't hacked though Dear Paxum Client, We are glad to inform you that our login security engine has been upgraded to provide enhanced security for all sensitive data.
In order to benefit from the new features, we are kindly asking you to change your password. Enclosed you will find a temporary password that will enable you to login to the site for the first time, at which time you will be prompted to change it. Please select a secure password that is at least 6 characters long, and do not share it with anyone. We also urge you to select a password that is different from any other password you have had with us in the past or may hold with any other secure application.
TEMPORARY PASSWORD: XXXXXXXXXXX
Additionally, note that this email does not contain any links. Please access our service as you usually would, by typing the address in the address bar. This holds true for any and all financial institutions. Clicking a link enclosed in an email might lead you to a phishing site, and is not recommended.
Sincerely Yours,
Paxum.com Team

This is not true! I use paxum with mtGox and I have no any notifications from paxum support However it's true that they change password because of login security engine upgrade.

I never really liked Paxum anyway. I prefer Dwolla.

You can't win if you don't play. But you can't play if you lose all your chips. First I found bitcoin (BTC). Then I found something better, Monero (XMR). See GetMonero.org
