I don't think it's compressed anywhere. You can download Bitcoin Core and get the entire blockchain.

Be careful downloading torrents as there could be malware in them. If you don't want to download the blockchain to use a wallet, download a lightweight client like Mycelium or Electrum.

You can download a bootstrap.dat from https://bitcoin.org/en/downloadBitcoin Core initial sync can take a very long time to complete. You should make sure that you have enough bandwidth and storage for the full block chain size. If you know how to download a torrent file, you can speed up this process by putting bootstrap.dat (a previous copy of the block chain) in the Bitcoin Core data directory before starting the software.

I also have the same question, if would be awesome if someone provided a .torrent for the date.
There is a torrent its called bootstrap.dat and can be found here: https://bitcoin.org/bin/blockchain/This will however not be the full blockchain, but only a big part of it. See also here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=145386.0Be careful downloading torrents as there could be malware in them. If you don't want to download the blockchain to use a wallet, download a lightweight client like Mycelium or Electrum.
The torrent file includes no executable so malware not really a problem. What good is a virus that cant be executed? Be carefull about the source however. thanks for suggest are these wallets safe to use? -snip- Bitcoin core 0.9.1 is considered safe. It is however only one possible client, you might want to check this: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet Before you get into downloading ~ 17 Gigs of data. ---- Just saw this: You can download a bootstrap.dat from https://bitcoin.org/en/downloadBitcoin Core initial sync can take a very long time to complete. That only links to the torrent.

thanks for suggest are these wallets safe to use? Yes, they're perfectly fine, but remember, any wallet is only as safe as you are ultimately.

thanks very much guys i think the mod has corrected the title BTW, so thank to him too i think i will stick to the lightweight client as i do not like to download more than 20GB of blockchane
edit: sorry guys i have a question about measuring the power consumption of a rig how can i measure it? is here the right place to ask this question or i need to open a new thread about it?
actually i've searched the bitcointalk forum about it and couldn't find a direct answer it just has been suggested to use a special hardware for this is there any other way to do it? thank you

It's blockchain , but the thread title still seems to be the same. Have you looked at using an online wallet? I recommend blockchain.info which doesn't need to download the blockchain. Check out their website and you can try a demo account.

If you are talking about your computer it is hard to calculate it. Your local electricity company should lend you a multimeter for free. Make sure you test the power consumption for at least 1 hour while the rig is running under normal circumstances. The special hardware (ASICs) usually the information somewhere online. E.g. CoinTerra TerraMiner IV eats 1200 Watt

... would you mind to answer my second question in my pre post? ....
of course, you edit while I was writing reply. post above is correct, you have to get multimeter for precise value otherwise you have to count it from consumption stated by manufacturer. but overclocked devices consume much more. what devices we actually talking about?
